Very interesting Pixie!! Dad did a whole lot of ceramics before he declined. He had ben dx and on meds . . .but was still pretty independant. He made a doll for each daughter and granddaughter (10 in all) which he used real lace and layered it for the dress and painted over it. And he made many other pieces too . . eagle, lighthouse, bear, castle, santa, etc. He seemed to really enjoy it. I asked him why he doesn't do that anymore and he claims that the lady who oversees the ceramic room at the senior center ran him off. I think I will pretend to be a senior (I am 51) and take him over there! But today, we worked on a Jr. jigsaw puzzle and had a lot of fun. It is really strange though . . . he knows exactly how I am feeling . . . he knows when I hurt, he knows when I am tired, etc. . . . even when I can fool my mom and family. I think that is very touching. He has also asked for me by name during the week . . . and he hasn't done any names for quite a while. . . so I am touched. Thanks for sharing Pixie. . . we still plan to do that pedicure . . . couldn't find an open shop on a Monday . . LOL. Snow, thanks again for the jigsaw idea!!!!
