could this be anxiety

Hello i never thought i could possibly have anxiety.  Ive been having problems with my bowels and what i thought was indigestion.  I have recently foudn out i could be suffering from anxiety i am quit a worry wart so it could be possible if anyone has any ideas if this is what i am experienceing and any advice would be greatfully appreciated.  Thanks so much

  Bowel problems can be from many things, and with little info that you have gave us it is hard to say, but if you look to the right of this page on resources you may find if you fit the anxiety profile but untill then we may not know, I just hope this helps you and wecome to HW

As Freezing said we do need a little more info but for someone to tell a person NOT to worry .lol ..thats not a real great DX in my opinion........

I have Crohns ( bowels) and I will tell you this anxiety plays a big part in whether it acts up or not ......as does other things like my diet or lack of .........

Do you have any other symptoms........have you had this problem before and if not then for how long has it been going on

ok my bowel problems haveing been going on for over a year now i worry about almsot everything i knwo this is weird but if my bowel movements dont look a certain way i tend to freak out. If you need more juswt ask

It hard to tell from just a couple symptoms if someone has anxiety or not. There are many things that go along with it.
Such as racing thoughts trouble sleeping, worrysome thoughts all the time even over the small things.
And then there is painic which is just the worst!
There is help out there if you think that you have this. I recomend talking with your doc. There are things out there that can help!

I have the lump in my throat and diarrhea at times they are most of my symptoms also i have trouble falling asleep we had christmas break and i had a hard time going to bed before 3 every night.  i also have stomach aches periotically

THERE are so many different and same sx with anxiety

I really would suggesst you do see a doc and have a physical done at least that way your mind will be at rest

Bowel colors and shapes ect can and do vary from person to person depending on diet, disease or others such as food poisoning

I have bowel problems as well...mainly constipation. Go to youtube.com there's this girl that has similar symptoms like you...type in anxiety in stomach.....

Hi Moka, welcome :-) I have anxiety/panic disorder and irritable bowel syndrome.  The more anxious I am, the worse my bowels/stomach cramps.  There is a real link between the two and it is possible to have most of the anxiety in your stomach without feeling many of the commonly listed symptoms.  insomnia is a big anxiety clue though.  Find a good doctor you trust and tell him/her all your symptoms.  Sometimes stomach problems can be helped with medication and anxiety certainly can be controlled.  Good luck and welcome again xx

Hi Moka, over the years I've had a tendency to jump to the possible psychological explanation first. I had a very wise counselor once who told me that even tho I had a "mental disorder" I should have a thorough work-up done by my doctor before I jump to the psychological. And yes, the psychological can definitely make a physical condition worse. I once thought I had all the answers, but fortnately was steered to my regular doctor. It turned out I was anemic & that gave me many symptoms similar to bipolar & hypothyroidism.

You'll feel better knowing you are at least going in the right direction if you are examined first. And you'll feel validated. If it's something physical, you have reality. I find the "not knowing" in itself causes me anxiety. I don't like to 'not know' or hang in limbo.
