Well, hate is a strong word, but I find him to be cold. I barely see him(fine with me) and really just need the Rx for the antidepressant from him (20 minutes for 165 bucks). I decided that life is too short to see a doctor I dislike. He is terrible on the phone(I rarely, reaely call) and is very short and puts me under pressure to hurry up. Well, wehn you have anxiety and are depressed sometimes your brain doesn't work that well. I find him impatient I suppose. I pay him so why do this I guess. Now I need to find someone new and someone(A psychologist probably) for my 17 year old(guess who has anxiety?). I feel under pressure to find someone so I don't have to find someone!

How did you all find a new doctor? I can see anyone becvause my insurance doesn't cover much psych anyhow.

I dont know where you live but here in Ontario we have a Doctor's Referral Guide....Kinda a yellow pages full of doctors and Pdocs

Is there anything simuliar where you are?

I am thinking it would be best for you to find another doc as well ...just my opinion........

Sharann, I agree with Lyn, if you are that unhappy with your doc, then you absolutely need to find another one.  It's essential that you are comfortable with any doc that you have and if you're it's up to you to find another.  I hope you can find one quickly. Let us know how you do. Wen

There are some good docs out there. Took me a couple of times to find a good one. The last one I had was also cold and just a jerk. I did not get along with him at all. I did make a lot of calls and said get a hold of your Doctor Referral in your area. Ask around, I also made a call to one of the hospitals here as well to get some names.

Best of luck I know many times it is not easy. But will all be worth it in the long run when you find a good Dr.

Well, I DID IT! I cancelled my last shrink and made an appt with a new one who seems very good. The worst that can happen is I don't like him and I move on. I am lucky that I am very stable most of the time on my Effexor for anxiety and basically I don't need much talking to. I DO want a nicer doc because IF I need that extra hand holding I want it from a nice person, not this jerk who tells me to "hurry up I don't have much time" when called. So thanks for the support. I feel so free! IF I get in a med bind I have an Internist who is very good about giving me an Rx to hold me over until I find someone. Take Care.

Good to hear you have an appt with a new Doc. Same hear I dont need much talking to as well. But one needs a Dr who is not nasty or in a rush to push one out the door. But is nice to have a Doc that has some understanding, which i think is the most important part. Not one that tells you to hurry up and so one. I dont want to have a Dr hold my hand, but want one that understands or trys their best to understand. Is important to have a Dr we can talk to and they will listen.

I wish you the very best and keep in touch on how you are doing.

Thanks Mia, I feel the same way about the hand holding. It is nice if needed, but not for me.
This guy sent me a 14 page questionairre. Oh gosh, that is way too comprehensive! Oh well,

Hi Sharann,

Sounds like you have your work cut out for you with that 14 page questionaire. I know I had a lot to fill out and took me forever. But dont think it was 14 pages. Dang! that is a small book.

I don`t want the hand holding, but sure is nice to have people around for support and to be able to vent. To say how I feel or at times dont feel Ones that understand. That is why I come here. Others are going through what I am or much more and are able to understand.

You get busy with the questionaire :) and take care.

Well, I finished the novel mamma. 14 pages but at least most of it was check boxes. "Do you have anxiety?" That was a no brainer.

Glad to hear you made the move and chose to see a new Pdoc.  Having a trusting relationship with your pdoc makes a world of difference on how you feel.  I know I was not sure about mine but I have warmed up to her.

Oh yes I have Anxiety, Panic big time. Was doing better then BANG!!! here it came again as big and strong as ever. Now I feel like I am at base one again, or maybe I should say one foot on and one off.

So, did your hand, fingers go numb finishing your novel? Hey, check boxes are the easy ones. But when they ask a question and you have to write the answer they never give one enough room to write all that needs to be down. Maybe they just want the short answer. "Who Knows".

I really hope all works out this time around for you.

Yeah, those check boxes. I always "add" a bit. Well, YES or NO!. Sometimes it is "Sometimes!"
I'll let you know in 2 weeks after my appt. I am feeling better too now that I found a nice psychologist
for my son to talk to(I probably made him a wreck!). So he is happier now that he knows help is on the way.

Yes, those little check boxes can get to you. YES, NO and no somethings. I leave them blank with hopes the Dr will ask the question. Most times they do. Had one Dr ask why I left a few blank. Told him to see if her really read them. :) I don`t think he found to funny at all. But I got a kick out of it.
Hey, keeps them on their toes.
