I have suffered fron Panic Attacks for many years to the point of not being able to leave the housealone. For years it has been much better  but after a recent trauma I am having problems again. Has any one else had this problem?

I have not had this  problem of not being able to leave the house, however my sister has. Me an my sis are like partners in painic.

She has had problems with leaveing her home off and on. As of now she will only go to my house and ride in the car. She truely believes that if she goes somewher like a store or something, as soon as steps into the door way of the store she will pass out and die.

So your not alone!!!

I really wish I had some advice to offer but I am still tring to figure out how to help my sis. I have not found anything to work yet.

I cant wait to hear some other thoughts on this.

I've had the exact thing happen.  For almost two years I was completely housebound and I fought my way back to the point that I could go anywhere, anytime I wanted.  A little over a year ago, I had a very bad setback with unbearable panic and again I would not leave the house.  I've been fighting back again, and in the last few months have been going out every weekend with my husband.   I went through a stressful period too, and that is why the setback hit.  It's so hard to go through a setback, and so frustrating.  I really feel for you.  Let me know if I can help!

I was like this but only for a few months and like Junebug I fought my way out that door I had to for me and my sanity in all honesty
Sitting in the house staring without seeing anything was making me worse.....

My daughter became very frightened and it was then I knew I HAD to do something so I FOUGHT it and went out the door just to the steps at first then to the mail and finally with lotsa baby steps I was back to driving and going anywhere I wanted to go...baby steps are the easiest IMHO and yes it takes a bit longer BUT you do acheive your goals and never worry about any judgement here we all know what you are going thru or have been thru I am sure

There are many on here that can relate to you and I am sure they will give you their inout as well .....It is called AGORAPHOBIA in case you want to look in the resources and pop it in as well

Please stay with us and join in the " family" we have here....A GREAT group of " family" memberes I might add

I am getting out and doing things but not alone. I take someone with me, I hate being this way and never want it to get as bad as it was once. I am taking xanax but there are times when even that does not help. Thanks for listening!

Hi sodell I am currently suffering from agrophobia i mean i can leave the house and drive but i have to stay within a certain raduis of my home.It really stinks!!! I've been suffering from panic attacks for a long time now and i go through many differnt stages with it.Right now i'm at a very low point with it and i'm very limited to what i can do and where i can go.Like yourself it helps when i have someone to go with me but there is not always someone available so i can't really offer you much advice but to keep fighting it and take baby steps like lyn said.Let me know if you have a breakthrough maybe it will help me!

Welcome to HealingWell. This is a great site. I look forward to getting to know you better.  I am sorry you are having issues with the panic attacks.  It was good to see you are getting out and having someone with you is fine.

You are getting out is the most important things.  Stay with us and you will meet many warm and caring members who share your same problems.
