Hi Im new to this site. I'm 19 and dealt with Anxiety for about 3 years.. so i was about 15 or 16.. It's such a horrible feeling and i cant live the way i want to. I guess u can say i have Chronic Anxiety since i feel like this all day and practically everyday. Iv'e been to counceling and i have taken medication but that only works for so long. I stoped taking my medication about 10 months ago because i got pregnant. It was hard at first but i seem to feel better as the days go by. My doctor said it was probably due to all the hormones from being pregnant. Now that i've had the baby it came back and its hard taking care of the baby by myself since im a single mother. I'm scared of being alone at home with the baby because i get so paranoid that something bad is going to happen.. i just dont know what to do. cry

Hello and welcome to HW, it's lovely to have you with us. It is not uncommon to feel overwhelmed as a new mother. Congrats for that by the way :-)

I would think about talking to your doctor about maybe going back on the meds again, are you breastfeeding????

Do you have friends or family who can help you through this time? Anxiety is very hard to deal with and I would hate to think of you going through this alone. We have manyh members who have worked through similar situations and I am sure they will be along soon to offer advice or support.

Thank you for replying! Iv'e never been on one of these support groups and im glad to have found it. It really is over whelming being a single mother. I live with my mom but shes usually at work and i don't like to bother her with it. I know this sounds silly but im embarassed. I tell her sometimes but she dont take me serious. It's like if she thinks i want attetion or something. So i usually bottle it up. Yes i do breast feed and kinda scared of taking meds again because they can be addicting and dependable. When i got off my meds the first time i had really bad withdrawls. Right now im on maternity leave and im scared of going back to work because thats how i quit my last job. i was always scared of having another attack and i had one at work. i really wouldnt want to have one at this job. It's embarassing for me sad . i think i might go back to counceling

You need to take a deep breath and tell yourselfm that you can do it. You have alittle life that now depends on you and in a way you depend on her/him. I think you are alittle overwhelmed I can only imagine.I have aniety really bad when go to the store and if I'm around alot of people.I feel trapped and start sweating...maybe you do need to get back on your meds it probley would help you. remember that little one depends on you and you can do it..Alex

Hello and a warm welcome to you.  I am Kitt.  I am sorry you have anxiety and I am wondering if your post partum blues has you right now.  I would really like to see you return to your OB physician and talk this out.  See what else you might be able to do with the new baby and anxiety.  I am sure you are not alone in this feeling.

It kind of creeps up on new Moms and please know you are not alone. Do count on us and your family to help you out.  Let your friends know how you feel.

Being a new mom is so tough even under the best circumstances. When you are young and single it is even harder. Be kind to yourself. Anyone would feel a little panicky. I would definitely go back to counseling if you can afford it or get it free. Also, can you find another new mom in your area you can have coffee with or trade baby sitting on occasion? Is there a new moms group somewhere around? Check with a friendly looking large church nearby. They may have a moms group. Try to talk to people or have your mom ask around so you can find support and friends.

You should not have terrible withdrawals from anxiety meds. You should be able to taper on and taper off slowly so you are comfortable. Did you do it under a doctor's care or on your own? If you are too panicky to work, you may need meds. There's nothing wrong with that.

Welcome, Nessa - I'm glad you've found us. This forum is a very comforting and supportive place. I can't add anything to the great advice others have suggested, but do keep posting and let us know how you're doing. Try to remind yourself of the good things you're experiencing each day as a contrast to the anxiety.

My symptoms are so overwhelming. There are so many. I have severe dizziness, body goes numb, out of breath, unreality, blurry vision, cold sweaty hands, shakey, can't think straight, feeling like im going crazy or dying, feeling like im going to pass out.
