Any info on Lexapro

 I am thinking about going on 5mg of lexapro to see if it will help with my severe anxiety. I am scared cause of all the info I have read. Please let me know if you have any info on this medication.

I started Lexapro about 8 weeks ago after being on Zoloft for 8 years. Zoloft was very good for me, and now the Lexapro is very good for me. My doctor told me that Lexapro is a newer, cleaner drug that is "supposedly" better than Zoloft... so far so good for me on Lexapro...I feel great!

I have been on Lexapro (10 mg) for about 5 years and it has helped SO much with anxiety - mainly with
those "runaway thoughts". Because of being unemployed, I tried to very slowly go off of it and as I did,
all those thoughts started seeping back in, so I went right back to my 10mg and feel superb! I also
take Klonapin (Clonozopam/generic) 5mg 2-3 times per day and 50mg of Trazodone at night. It is a
great combination for me. It's definitely worth a try! When I got down to 5mg of Lexapro while cutting down,
that's when those thoughts started coming back, so I went back to my 10mg dose. I'm very grateful
for Lexapro. Hope this helps!

I take 20 mg Lexapro every night - have for a few years. I wouldn't be without it. It does make me sleepy though - so take it a night. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I am doing okay on Lexapro.  My pdoc said that it's the stronget, most effective antidepressant, in general.  Of course, not everything works for everybody.

I've taken Lexapro for the past 5 months. My primary physician said it's great for anxiety as well as depression so I was like ok, well good let's try it. I don't feel like it's done that much for me. Everyone's mileage varies though. I've read an equal number of stories through sites like revolution health (a med review site sorta) that Lexapro's been the greatest thing in their life and what not. For me, not so much. I feel like it's not harming me, but I don't feel like it's helping me at this point. I've gone as high as a horse slug with 60 mg, and now I'm on 20 mg because I told the doc it just doesn't do much. Currently, I'm seeing a psychiatrist fro the first time in months since me and my psychologist agreed that she's more likely to work with me on medication requests and certain dosages more so than a more cautionary primary care physician. She's put me on 60 mg for Cymbalta and said we'll phase out the 20 mg of Lexapro.
