Are you assertive?  Do you speak to others with confidence to gain respect from them and for yourself? 

These questions go hand in hand and are important for combating our anxiety and having a feeling of self worth.

I'll begin with this one :)

I have slowly become more assertive with my needs lately to those around me and it has been excellent. I'm not stressing as much now, because I lay out how I feel to others and then move on with my life. I think to myself in all situations now that "I'm worthy of respect" and "I can let go of my guilt because it is not healthy for my well being." What a great feeling of release! Now that I am being confident in what I say/do, I feel so much respect for myself and those around me are beginning to learn that the old ways of getting under my skin are no longer effective and that I will not tolerate anyone trying to keep me down. I love myself and nobody is going to take that from me anymore :)

No, I'm the furthest thing from assertive. I need to learn to be assertive. Do I speak with confidence to others? I'm not sure about this one. It's a difficult question. I always speak with kindness and respect for them, but I don't think I do it with confidence.

I'm glad you're becoming happy with your new confident self. I need to be more like that. I think I stick up for myself more with family now, but I need to do it with others. Great questions!

I am assertive but have to be very careful of crossing the line to aggression and anger.  I used to just shut my mouth and do what every one else thought I should or just turn the other cheek but now I do articulate my expectations.

Great question Bro. You are assertive and that is a good thing.

Im extremely assertive. I speak my mind and stand up for myself. always have. honestly, its a quality that i treasure. I was born assertive (mum says stubborn, rolleyes ) but i say assertive!

I am assertive. No doubt there - I usually can speak my mind - just gotta remember not to take it too far and make somebody mad and let my mouth get me in trouble. I also have a tendency to get worked up and mad so I try to keep that under control - sometimes it sure is tough to do!

Assertiveness is a trait I have learned only after being ill and at rock bottom. I guess I have realised that you are only on this earth for a very short time and being assertive is a good quality in this life to make things happen and bring about change! I also now embrace change along with my new and powerfull personality trait. "Assertiveness".  Thanks Sam great question. If I didn't believe it before...I believe it now! lol....Gillxx

I am definitely assertive. Like Maz, my mom has certainly labeled me as stubborn from a very young age, but it is a trait that I am proud of and I always stick up for myself and others around me. Great question!

Well, if by assertive and confidence, you mean being able to approach complete strangers and be friendly and stuff... That's me! No problem! Being friendly is awesome!

But if by assertive and confidence you mean confronting someone about a problem or some other such thing... Then, I will have to say I am a spineless chicken. I get too afraid of making someone angry with me... or making someone upset.

Interesting question.  I'm assertive to the point of being pushy when it comes to getting things for my family or friends.  As for being assertive for myself, no.  I do try to speak with confidence so people will listen to what I am saying (not have to agree but listen).

I am not a very assertive person at all.  I never have been.  When things need  to be said I always clam up and don't say a word.  I know this is something that I need to work on but just have never been able to do it.  I don't approach others with much confidence because I have always had a low self esteem....so when I go up to someone..it's always a cautious approach.
