The doctors say I have to try the radiaton. Im scared cuz the radiologist said its a 50/50 chance of shrinking my tumor and a 5% chance that I will get a non curable tumor later on in life. I go in monday to mold my head mask (scary idea even!) and will be starting treatment next week. How can I go through with this when I'm so scared?

Dearest Smurfy,

I am praying for you and I think you have a right to be scared but try to take it one step at a time.  I have gone step by step through my sister's ovarian cancer with her and she is 2 weeks post op now and doing well.

When she got off the airplane on 8/13 she was in complete system failure and I thought they would rush her to surgery.......but it was 6 months of chemo and many tests and medications and now she has had the surgery and her outlook is good.  She is a stage IV ovarian cancer.

I feel like I have watched a miracle unfold as I truly never thought she would come this far and now we are celebrating the power of prayer and the great strides that have been made in medicine.

Please know we are all here and praying for you.  Just keep on talking to us.  Let out the feelings.

I will be praying for you!  You will feel so much better after you have all this done even though it's scary right now.  Good luck and let us all know how you are this week.

I asked the minister if he and his wife can come, but they cant due to illness. I do believe in God, and I been telling my fmaily and friends to just pray. I'm trying to get my mother to take a day off of work for me so I may have her with me. Hopefully the boss will let her have it off! I so dont want to do this, but I'm giving it a shot as 2 doctors said I should try it out. But what if it doesnt work? What if I get more tumorurs? What if I cant do radiation again for other tumors or cancer?

Dear Smurfy

Don't get caught up in anticipatory anxiety. No getting stuck on the merry-go-round of what if's?. Kick that stinkin thinkin to the curb and stay in the moment. 

You have made your decision and don't try to out guess yourself.  I hope your Mom can be with you and remember your God is watching over you.

Ok, I made the head mask and got a CT Scan. It was so freaky (I'm clasterfobic and motion sensitive). I tried to crawl out the dang thing. I hated it. They gave me something called Adavent and said to take it before I do my radiation.

SmurfyShadow I will definetly keep you in my prayers. I think the med they gave you is Ativan? It is in the benzo family.

They probably gave you Ativan whcih is for anxiety. Just remember we are all with you 100% and the kudos and prayers keep on coming.

I too was terified of the radiation and chemo
BUT
I asked my God to be with me

I made it thru and I had sugury
It has been great since and no reccurence

I will pray for you
