Hey there,
Welcome to the forum, firstly! I've gone through periods of more severe panic attacks where I thought I was having a heart attack, too.
my doctor told me years ago that I tend to "not breathe" even though my heart is beating so fast, which can cause numbness, so I do
more deep, slow breathing, in through the nose and out through the mouth. It definitely has taken the edge off the panic attacks.
I take 4 mg of Klonapin/day during this stressful time (was taking 2, then went to 3, and most of the times just take 3), also take
Lexapro for depression and Trazodone both for depression and to help with my PTSD/night terrors (which, to me seem very similar
to panic attacks, but that's just me).
What has REALLY helped me (other than my most recent post - lol) is starting a grateful journal. Writing anything I am grateful for,
no matter how small or big - light through trees, a beloved pet that's in your life, nature, family, friends - anything. I gotta tell ya,
this has turned my life really around a lot!! I mean, with my problem I just posted about, I tend to laugh at it (now that I have
the proper "equipment" to take care of it) and joke to myself that I'm getting old and senile or something (I love to laugh at things
I do - I'm very clumsy, too - lots of laughs at my house!)
Again, welcome, welcome, welcome! So glad you came here - I'm sure you'll find a lot of tools from others that will get you through
this! :-D
