Hi,  I forgot to mention that I am 46 and live in Ontario, Canada.   Ok I went to see my doctor and she told me that anxiety can come with thyroid and can also come with IBS...so I am doomed  lol cause I have both butttttttt something interesting she did tell me was some women get anxiety if their perimenopausal/menopause and I have just started premenopause about 8 months ago because I was always like clock work with my monthly's and they are messed up now..sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't or they may come light or  heavy.  I did tell her that I seem to experience this feeling when its around my period time hmmmmm wonder if that has to do with anything.  It's not enough I have a few health problems to deal with..one more has to be added to the list now.  Oh btw...the metal taste in the mouth is also a sign of anxiety coming on  according to my doctor.  I have only experienced this a few times and it doesnt seem to last for long or be too severe but am definitely worried if it is to become worse.  Another interesting factor is I believe anxiety or at least my anxiety is not brought on mentally but is very much physical.  I have a wonderful job, a nice home, money, 2 wonderful boys and a boyfriend who treats me like a queen...so I am not depressed nor do I worry.  When my anxiety comes on I believe its physical...I believe its an imbalance of something going on in my body due to my health problems and not mentally.  If you have any kind of bowel problems my doctor also said that the digestive tract  is tied in with the nervous system so this can also trigger anxiety.  Wow so many scenarios and no definite answer.  I guess its trial and error and finding what works for me along with medication....I just hope this doesnt worsen on me cause the way it is right now..I can handle it, I don't like it but I can handle it.    Thats it for now......thanks for listening and am glad I can voice my mind here...it feels great to be able to know that I'm not the only one out there that has wierd things happening and getting no answers.  PS..you know your body better than the doctors do so go with your instincts and what its telling you and read..read...read...read..educate yourself on your health.  Ok gotta run, am typing this all from work  hehehe.

Yes I have used Lorazapam for many yrs
It worked for me .........
I took it along with Valium

Sage advice you gave you know your body better than anyone and you HAVE to be your own best advocate with all your health needs
Especially here in Ontario where OHIP covers everything..........unlike our sister states

Hi bojalaisgirl...sry to hear what your going through, I think its very tough when Doctors are too busy to really listen and throw out just any diagnosis and the all to familiar one is saying its all in our heads or its a mental thing...not a darn thing wrong with my mentality just my body lol.   The doctor who told you that you were too young to check hormone levels needs to take that medical book and slap herself in the ass with it cause there is no specific age for premenopause and I know many who have started in their 30's.  I do know though from my Doctor that they will not be able to tell if you are premenopausal ...only if you are in menopause and you are not in menopause until you have not had your period for one whole year according to the doctors and what I have read.  There are like hundreds of symptoms for that and each woman is different...I couldnt believe all the symptoms I read.. go with your gut instincts girl and if you don't feel depressed then don't let your doctor tell you that without getting a 2nd opinion. take care and god bless us everyone!

I am Kitt and I am in the US but Minnesota so we are neighbors.  I use Valium another benzo and I find it works well for me.  Another med that may be under-used is Buspar which I use on a regular schedule.  It is an antianxiety med but not in the benzo family.  It helps me and I reserve the Valium for high level stress times.

As far as hormone, I am past that stage where I have much problem with hormones however I do believe that a thyroid test is very appropriate if you have other sx that may point toward the thyroid misbehaving.
