mri results -

does anyone know how long it would take for my dr to receive mri results if something was found on it??  would they call me ASAP (like within an hour)......i had mine done at 7:45 this morning; haven't heard anything yet and i am a wreck......... 

I'm not sure how long those take to get results. If you haven't gotten them yet, maybe you could call & ask when to be expecting them. Maybe that would help you relax a little until that point, or you could save your worrying for that day & not have to suffer until then. Keep us posted!

I usually never hear about mine until about a week later. Remember that the radiologist usually has many many MRI's to read not just yours, so it takes more than a few hours to get results. Generally when you don't hear anything on a test it usually means good news as there is nothing found. If you are concerned then call your docs office and ask when you can expect to know the results. But I think it is highly unlikely that you will hear anything right away.

thanks, but i am wondering IF there was something on the mri scan, would the doc call sooner or wait a whole week??? i would sure hope not !!

The way I tend to look at things like that is "NO NEWS, IS GOOD NEWS!"

thank you everyone. i did call the doctors office today for my results. they said they don't give results over the phone; thats why they give us follow up appts, but she did say if something was wrong they would have called me by now....so i'm still keeping my fingers crossed.....please keep me in mind....i guess part of having anxiety is second guessing everyone?????????????

my appt with the neurologist is this thursday for the results...

Great! They didn't find anything wrong and that's what they're going to tell you at the appointment. Stop thinking about it and stop worrying. It's a vicious cycle that we could go on and on about. Be happy that they found nothing. In the meantime, write down any questions you want to ask the neurologist when you see him/her.

You need to celebrate the good news! I'm really happy for you!

I know it's easier said than done but really try writing down any & all questions you might have between now and then and that way you can get a big load off your chest.

I second-guess most people as well, and it seems the 'smarter' they're supposed to be the more I do it....strange, huh.

Anyway, I never thought about what you said but the additional co-pay in todays times of greed wouldn't surprise me a bit, but hopefully I'm wrong.

That's great news! Can you tell us what your symptoms were? That might be comforting to some with similar anxiety symptoms.

my symptoms were pretty strange, and scary.....for the past year and a half i was experience a numbing/tingly sensation in my head, face, jaw - actually all over my head and it would change to different places throughout the day....then i would feel tightness/pressure in my head and face/ear area - it really drove me nuts;. i went thru a depression and was petrified something was wrong with me. i also had numbing /tingly feelings in my legs too, but i believ ethat is from my herniated disc in my back. that sometimes happens.....

good luck to you all, and know that anxiety can cause some very very strange symptoms that are so scary, they would lead you to belive something is really wrong....i go to a psychiatrist now - hopefully she will help me calm my health fears......
