It really depends on what your diagnosis is. For me personally, my panic attacks/anxiety were the result of sudden deaths in the family and stressors not being dealt with (being a type A perfectionist, childhood abuse, etc) that had built up over time. My Dr never intended for me to stay of meds for an extended period. After a couple years in therapy, learning coping skills, dealing with grief/pain and working w/my Drs, they feel its ok to wean off the meds and just go with CBT. My sister has a chemical imbalance and clinical depression with suicide attempts and she will need to stay on her meds probably forever. Also with my Colitis, I don't want to take more meds than I absolutely HAVE to. As it is, I take almost 15 pills a day.

I'm always curious as to why people wean off their medications? I can see if the med isn't working. That's understandable. But if you're feeling well it's probably because of the medication and you need to stay on it. Just my opinion......my little opinion....doesn't mean much. =)
