what causes anxiety attacks What Causes Anxiety? There are a myriad of reasons that may cause anxiety to surface through the form of physical symptoms. For every person that suffers from anxiety, the cause may be different but the underlying physiological changes that occur within the body are similar. Here are some of the main reasons that anxiety may surface within the body:
- A stressful situation that the patient has been dealing with. This can cause immediate anxiety when faced with the situation or can cause a generalized anxiety that can contribute to general anxiety disorders when the subject is mentioned.
- Fears are often a high cause of anxiety in some patients, especially when these patients are forced to come into contact with the fear or have thoughts about
facing the fear. For this reason, the patient may choose to avoid the aspect which is causing fear and anxiety.
- Chemical imbalances in the brain have been linked with the cause of generalized anxiety disorder in which there is no known for reason for the patient to appear anxious. This can be the most dehabilitating type of anxiety as the patient is unable to predict triggers that may cause an anxiety attack.
Knowing the cause of anxiety can help the patient to avoid certain triggers or create coping methods to reduce the anxiety which is felt during an attack.

Thanks for the info, I must be in the 'chemical imbalance' crowd to some degree because at least 75% of the time, I have no idea what's the reason for my anxiety/panic & that really SUCKS.

I wonder where knowing what triggers it but not being even remotely bothered by that yet still having a panic attack would mean. Somewhere between the two ?

Nameless, I think in your case it's a problem with your subconscious. Therapy would help to figure out what is going on. You say in your post that you're not remotely bothered by the cause, but yet you are. The panic attacks are bothering you. You need to deal with the underlying problem. Good luck!
