Hi Kitt!!!
Over the last year I've gone through serious night sweats for a time, intermittent hot flashes and mood swings - now my period was
3 weeks late this last month and a week late the month before (I'm always on time), so if peri-menopause is included, very likely could
be this.
I've been using (since the urine incontinence) the Equaline brand of overnight extra protection plus briefs. The work 93% of the time.
Sometimes I must go twice in the night (this is even after I stop drinking anything after 6:00 p.m. excepting a sip with my night meds.
I had a horrible Gyno once (just once as I was trying to find a new one as mine went into a speciality field) and this new guy left the clamps
hanging out of me (very mean doctor, yelling at me not to cry even though it was hurting so much) and his nurse wouldn't come near me -
I was used to having my hand held and having understanding (having been attacked a couple times in my life), but I always wonder if that's
what's been causing much of my problems. I lost my sex drive after that (now I'm asexual, happily).
I did herniate a disc years ago - could that be affecting me this many years later? (about 8 years, I think?) I still have back issues but don't take
pain medication - actually I have pain in a lot of places from injuries (carpal and cubital tunnel, degenerative arthritis in C-3 and lower lumbar, leftover pain from the herniated disc in the middle of my back (can't remember which disc), early signs of osteoporosis/hips (years ago I was diagnosed from a bone density test), some nerve damage in 2 of my fingers . . . ahhhhhhhhhhh but instead of pain pills (which I almost comitted suicide with years ago if you remember my story), I really work at dealing with that pain, just telling myself "It's all relevant to how I react to this pain and I choose to acknowledge but not react in any way that will ruin my day." That's kind of my mantra with pain.
The incontinence, however, is totally frightening and now both kinds of incontinence (I'm hoping the second is very temporary and stops right away - have no idea why that's happening other than stress or something).
I'll check out both a urologist and a gastroenterologist? I think I'm going to have to apply for assistance of some kind, though.
I'm so glad you're here! It was weird that no one in the IBS group responded. I was very embarassed to write what was happening with the other type of incontinence. You and Nanners have really helped me to feel much more comfortable and kind of like a normal person. Non-acknowledgement of something so embarassing would have been horrifying so I'm glad I wrote here, too!
Thank you both from the depths of my heart!!
Warmly,
Julie O'
