So ive been on this med for about 2 weeks now for panic attacks and anxiety. It seems to be working nicely. I just want everyone's experiences with this med past or present. I want to know everything i can about this med and how it affects you. Give every detail (benefit/side effect) and other meds you were on.
Any info would be much appreciated .

Welcome to the A & P Forum.  I see this is your first visit to the Anxiety Forum. 

The medication you are on belongs to the family of benzodiazapines.  Here is a link re the benzo that you may find helpful.

Remember each person is different and will react to medications in their own way.  What works for one may not work for another.

Overall it seems to be something that works but have a lots of side effects in certain conditions.

This set of drugs has a long list of quite serious side effects, like...confusion, unusual thoughts & behavior, hyperactivity, unusual eye movements, some unusual breathing routines, depressed mood, fragile skin etc.

I can tell you that my experience with Klonopin has been nothing but positive. Almost 2 years ago it helped me overcome being agoraphobic. (that along with Lexapro) And, I have suffered from panic attacks for many years, and I would chose that over Xanax anyday, though Xanax has also helped me many times.

I think it is a great drug that I could not live with out right now.

But, again, everyone is different. And every drug has side effects, but that doesnt' mean you will suffer from any or all of them.

All drugs have side effects, including asprin and cold medicine...don't read too much and let it scare you

Klonopin actually has a very low side-effect profile. It's tolerated quite well by most people, including me, and I usually can't take anything. I don't know how long I've been on it. A low dose for maybe three years or so. I've done quite well on it. I think the only side-effect I had is "flu-like symptoms", which consisted of a runny nose that I had for a couple of days before it went away. I have several friends on Klonopin and they didn't even have that. Of course everyone's different and I guess it's possible that you may experience other side effects, but if you look at the trials it's extremely unlikely.

Dependency is the #1 issue with this one. If you get on it and stay on it, you cannot just stop taking it. But I wouldn't worry about that. If you need it, you need it. The #2 issue is probably depression, if you have that anyway, it's possible it could magnify it a little. Keep an eye on that if you have depression.

Most people find it to be a very effective drug, though. Don't know where I'd be without it.

I started taking Klonopin 3 weeks ago to counteract the jitters from Prednisone. It not only worked for that but puts me in a great mood. I feel like socializing and doing things again. It's been a blessing for me.
