head pains

anyone ever get pains in your head - not like a headache - not constant pain but a stabbing throbbing pain off and on throughout the day?  mine has been doing it for a couple hours.  very annoying and it's making me have anxiety.  i took some ibuprofen and it's not going away - well some mobic - which i like it.  geeez.  seems to always be some type of pain that is freaking me out.  i hate this. 

it's like onthat big round bone in the back side of my head.  it has done it before but anyone know what causes it?  ugh

yes and i get them all the time actually. I have been seeing a neurologist, I had and MRI w and w/o contrast and an MRA both of which came back negative. They started off being like once in a great while. Then out no where they started hitting me like 10-30 times a day (after a stressful month). From all that I started suffering from anxiety, stress, and now ever twinge of pain freaks me out. I don't know what to do...about my stress and anxiety and constantly think of that I have some kind of cancer. I am relieved that no tumors or anything scary was found. But there just these aches and pains i get all over my body. Sometimes in my chest(recent), in my GI(been going on over a year). I never used to suffer from anxiety, fear, or stress. Now all of a sudden I am a victim. For your head pains Hazel I can tell you mine are more provoked by stress and anxiety but unfortunatley the doctors have no clue what cause them. -primary- stabbing headaches and pains are considered benign though. Somtimes now mine will be just a dull ache in the spot I normally get them for hours. But the actual stabs have been less. My sugg estion is if they continue to worsen you should see a neurologist, but do your research for a good doctor. There are unfortunately some who just plain suck. I have found a really caring and good neurologist after seeing one who seemed to care less. If an MRI is suggested request an MRA also and find a place who uses a neuro-radiologist and has an MRI of 1.5tesla or higher. these were tips of my neurologist.

I get head pains too!!  They are very annoying... When I try to describe them to other people and tell them they are different from "headaches" but rather are "head pains" they think I'm crazy!!  Its good to know others describe them the same way :)  Usually, people who have anxiety know what head pains are!!  :)  Hope they get better for you.  I would get them for weeks, off and on, adn just be absolutely miserable.  But they do get better and stress does aggravate them so try to relax and do something calming.  Good Luck.
