Sorry I've not been on here much. G'ma took a turn for the worse last week and is back in the hospital again. . . I am so worried about her and have been working hard on controlling my anxiety right now. I am grateful that my doc increased the dose of my benzo the week before last when I was also finally diagnosed with arthritis and possible fibro. Supposed to go see a rheumy sometime, but with everything going on, plus finances, it is going to be hard to get in soon. I'm just grateful for all of the pain management and anxiety management techniques I've learned over the years, which is helping me to get by :) I will try to get on more when I'm not running back and forth to the hospital and trying to take care of business. . . Please give any spiritual support for my G'ma right now to get better, would be much appreciated. . . I know I've been spending many hours daily in prayer myself.

Aww Sam sorry to hear Gma took a turn for the worse. Hang in there its going to be up and down with her for awhile. My Mom seemed to do good, and then have these bad spells again. Please know that I will definetly keep her in my prayers. You too!

I would like to make a suggestion regarding the possible Fibro. I have Fibro too and just discovered something that has helped my Fibro pain immensley. Its Vitamin D!! I take 2000 units a day and it has help to relieve ALOT of that pain. I still have some arthritis pain going on, but even its better with the addition of Vitamin D. Give it a try.

Dear Sam, I am so sorry to know that Gma is up and down and struggling. I have been following you on FB as you give updates on her. You know you have my prayers.


Also if you would not mind shooting me an email with the name of the hospital or an address where I could mail her a card I would like to do that. I have not had a Gma since I was about 13 years old and it is something I think may have helped me over the years. I am glad you have good memories and that you are able to be with her.



Also I am glad you are dealing with your anxiety but do give yourself permission to feel as it is OK to feel anxious over Gma. She is a huge part of who you are.



I liked Nanners suggestion too, I may have to get Vit D for my osteo. My Pdoc suggested I take large doses of B complex vitamins as they help with stress and I do believe they have helped me.

So sorry to hear your grandma is back in hospital my thoughts are with her and you. No need to apologies for not being around much as you have helped so many members in this forum and you are a much loved member of the anxiety forum. I to glad that you are using your techniques to help you with your anxiety but know we are here to help you through and give support were we can. Sorry to hear about your diagnosis of arthritis I can relate to what you are going through as I have reactive arthritis and agree with what Kitt & Nanners suggested re vitamins but I also take high strength Cod Liver Oil and Glucosamine+Chondroitin tablets which you can buy from most pharmacy's and they are the building blocks of connective tissues around the joints which helps maintain flexible joints. I take these and do find they help but just something you might want to look into.

Hi Sam,

So sorry to hear about your grandma, my thoughts are prayers are with both of you. Try to go easy on yourself through this difficult time, you've got a lot on your plate and certainly with anxiety that doesn't make things easier. I too have arthritis and I found that water exercise is the gentlest on arthritic joints and always made me feel better. Have you tried any products containing Capsacin? Its supposed to help with the inflammatory response in arthritis.  Take care of you!

I am so sorry to hear about your grandma. I will definitely keep her in my prayers. I know you have been taking such good care of her. Please don't forget to take good care of yourself, too. Someone very close to me had arthritis too and I have back pain as well. Vitamin D and Glucosamine sounds good. I am thinking about getting Glucosamine myself. I've heard great stories about it. Also remember to keep yourself warm especially your hands and feet. :) I am sending some special healing vibes your way Sam.

Thank you all so much for your support, advice and prayers. The extra vitamins sound great and will be discussing this with my doc :) And I sure hope all of you have had a wonderful time yesterday with your families as well.

G'ma is still at the hospital and her blood sugar leveled out finally, but she also has pneumonia now. Yesterday her BP and oxygen saturation levels dropped and all the nurses were frantic, but they have that stabilized some now. My aunt, cousin and family friends came by to visit her yesterday and I've been back and forth to make sure she is getting plenty of fluids and love :) She is also trying to communicate more too, so that is helpful for all of us to meet her needs. I spoke with her doctor and she did have a couple of TIA's last week and is going through atrial fibrillation, so it is really a matter of time, but she has had a long life with many wonderful memories. . . Almost 89 years of age. It has been hard on me, but right now I have to put some things to the side to be of some help to her. We have been blessed with some abundant sunshine and so much love from everyone that there is so much to be thankful for. . . I just really love and thank you all for being there for me when I need it.

Hi.

My grandmother is about the same age and her health is failing, too. Although she's still living at her home, it's only with a lot of help from nurses and family. Thank God my grandfather had a union job with great benefits. Otherwise she'd be in a nursing home, I fear.

But I know what you're going through. Yesterday was Thanksgiving, of course, and it very well could be her last so we tried to make it a very good one. Same will go for Christmas.

Anyway, it's all very stressful. My life hasn't had many constants in it, but my grandmother has been one of the few. My friends think it's weird that I'm so close to her, but when I was a kid I lived with my grandparents. They raised me. I am the youngest grandchild and my grandfather had just retired when I went to live with them. They could have been doing anything they wanted and yet they took me in. I was devastated when he died. The only real father type figure I ever had. When she dies I will be equally devastated.

It's a part of life. A very hard, sad part of life. It sounds to me like you're doing well under the circumstances.

Sam, you and your grandma are in my thoughts and prayers.  It is so hard to deal with our anxiety and also deal with a sick loved one (in or out of the hospital).  I hope she can soon come home and be where she belongs - with you.

Dear Friends,

I believe Sam and his Grandma and all his family need lots of loving prayers and support right now. I know Sam's Gma is not doing well and is on Morphine now to help her pain and most likely ease any shortness of breath she may be having.

Sam I am so sorry about Gma and I hope our prayers can help Gma pull through but things sounded grim for you and you know we as a family here in HW are sending you our support in this difficult time for you.

G'ma passed approx. 5:10PM this evening at her favorite time of day. . . I just wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate the love, support and prayers. G'ma always thought highly of all those that loved us. Such a wonderful lady that will be missed by many. Much love and God bless you and your families.

May you all have as many beautiful memories with them as I had with my lovely G'ma :)

Please take comfort in knowing that your grandma's pain and suffering is behind her now.
How lucky and greatly blessed your grandma was to have you, Sam, in her life and care for her when she needed you beside her. I am sure she was incredibly proud of her grandson's devoted love and will always be thankful for everything you did for her.


I will keep you and your family in my heart and prayers as you honor the memory of your wonderful grandma.

Sorry I have not been on here as much, but all of the funeral arrangements and then just grieving has about taken it out of me. . . I am surprisingly doing pretty good with my anxiety though, a daily struggle for many of us, but like we all know: "Just take it one day at a time."

You all have been so wonderful with the support and prayers. G'ma was always happy that I had found HW, and in the process meeting so many great people :)

Sam I am so sorry to hear your grandma passed. I was off for sometime and did not see your post. May God's comfort be with you as you grieve your grandma's passing, and may all the memories of your time together always be in your heart. I know how you are feeling and my hearts hurts with yours.

Thank you everyone for all the support and love. . . Please don't feel obligated to reply anymore to this thread as I'm moving on as my grandmother would have wanted for me to do. Just have to keep on moving forward and grieving as I march along. I was lucky enough to have somebody that I love so much in my life, to have to feel this pain. . . I would do it all over again for those wonderful memories that I will always cherish :)

Sam just know that there will be bumps in the road ahead, and know we will always be here to listen.
