Cymbalta question/switched to paxil **update**

Did anyone ever experience daily headaches/neck pain while taking this med?

Besides my anxiety being through the roof and I have had pretty constant head and neck pain for the last 5 weeks. I started the Cymbalta 6 weeks ago.

Just curious..thanks

Hey there,

I did not have headaches as in a normal headache but my head felt foggy a lot and I was on Cymbalta over one year. The foggy feeling lifted when I was weaned off the medication.

I was on Cymbalta for six weeks and I can tell you it was an EVIL medication for me. Just google it and you will find thousands and thousands of daily blogs complaining about this drug. Many do great on it at first until they reach a 6-12 month timeframe, and then they have the side effects. My Neurologist couldn't understand why I was having any side effects from it and acted "surprised" to hear my new symptoms. Needless to say, I left that Neurologist. All he wanted to do was to keep me on that Cymbalta and make himself money. Lyrica gave me bad side effects as well. Listen to what your body is telling you and do your own research. I am going back to my Rheumotologist and will consider only a low dose of a new drug.

I live with neck pain daily, but the Cymbalta increased the pain, gave me daily headaches, foginess, and I started experiencing panic attacks as well. I was even more tired and my eyes felt like they were jiggling back and forth-especially when I was on the computer.

Talk to your doctor about your changes in symptoms. These doctors need to hear them and report them about this drug. If you decide to quit, make sure you wean off of it even though you have only been on it for 6 weeks. Your doctor will give you proper instructions for how to wean and the proper timeframe of doing so.

Today became a miserable day. I woke up at about 3 after reoccuring nightmares of hurting myself. They felt so real and it scared the you know what out of me.

I got up and got a glass of water only to start shaking and crying uncontrollaby. I finally woke my hubby up at 5 and told him what was happening. I couldn't calm down or stop pacing/crying hysterically.

We tryed called my old psych doctor at 8 and they couldn't get me in until March!!! I don't think I will use that office anymore. When a suicidal pt. calls it should be an emergency appt.

We called our PCP and explained what was going on. He said to sit tight for a few mins. and he would see what he could do. He called back within 10 mins. and had an appt. for me within the hour at crisis intervention.

The psychiatrist there wanted me to be admitted to the hospital after I told him about my dreams. I am reluctant to do that because I have been there before it made my anxiety worse.

He agreed that I could come home as long as I wasn't left alone.

He wants me to do the switch from cymbalta to paxil 20mg. He didn't tell me to wean off of it first just switch. I hope that goes well. I am also to take xanax 0.5 three times a day. He said that is not an option at this point that I need to do it until we see if the paxil works.

My hubby was able to get today and tomorrow off of work and then I will be visiting my sisters and my dad. They don't know all this yet though.

What a day. I have stopped crying so far after the increase in xanax. I am praying it stays like this. Still feel really anxious but not shaking anymore.

Wow I thought it was just me. I never had so many headaches in my life. I'm 31 and have tried Lexapro, Zoloft, and now Cymbalta. I have been on it about 3 months and I have constant neck pain and I wake up with headaches almost every day. I need to have Advil on me at all times. I don't even know if it's worth being on the Cymbalta. I feel so groggy and get an upset stomach when I take it in the morning, but I can't sleep at night if I take it later in the day. I also have the worst nightmares that seem to go on all night long!
I go back to my psychiatrist next Monday......I have no idea what he is going to say. shakehead
