Has anyone had headaches that zap?

Hi its me pinkmelody.I have anxiety,and I never had this.I know we have headaches.But this headache is wierd.It started off like a sharp pain on one side.Like a hard zap.then it comes and goes.I took a tylenol,that did not work,and I took a ib profen,is my mine playing tricks on me.Or do i i need to go to the emergency room.Please can someone write back.

melody1000- I suffer from migraines in addition to anxiety. I have experienced the "head zaps" before (usually occurs on the left side or the middle of my head for me)....I have began to learn that anxiety has SO MANY symptoms and this is one of them. I think the ONLY reason the "head zaps" dont concern me is because Ive had several MRI's/scans and everthings come back normal; otherwise, it would most likely be something else added to my list of worries...However, if it continues and  is concerning you, maybe you should take a trip to the hospital...nothing better than peace of mind. Are you on any of the antidepressants as many of the new ones may cause "head zaps or brain zaps"?

Hi guys,I am taking ativan,but the generic lorazapam...I cant stand this.I called a doctor about it and explain it to him and he said it sounds like migrains...I really hate this.its like when you get through with one symtom another one happen.....Ugh.i want to get better.

Hi Melody, Im not too familiar with the brain zaps caused by meds because I havent really been on many. I do however experience these sharp pains that just shoot down the side of my head. I believe mine come from the fact that I clench my teeth alot especially when Im sleep because Im almost always tense. I also noticed that when I sleep with my neck in an awkward position i get them too. Its crazy how anxiety can cause so many physical problems too.

Hi,Thank you for supporting me.You know what I notice.Ever since I spoke to my doctor.those pains have not been so intense and I have not been feeling them like I notice.Its strange...

head zaps suck .. i just drink alot of chamolmile tea and take a nap when that happens if you have nothing that has worked for you so far try that u may have to drink alot of tea tho its the only kind of tea that will calm me down... hope this helps mel.

Im glad that talking to your doc has calmed you down some as well as ppl here understanding whay you are going thru ..i get migraines and they are no fun at all..as well i get tension headaches...plz keep us posted on how you are doing
