White bump in the roof of my mouth please help!!

Well if the dentist wasn't real concerned about it, I am pretty sure you do not have oral cancer. He would have been the one who knew what to look for.

You are doing the right thing in going to a doctor to check things out. But you need to stay off the internet googling symptoms, as that will only make your anxiety worse. Its probably something very minor, even irritation possibly from your piercing. So try to take it easy until you see the doctor and do keep us posted.

It might just be the start of an allergy to your piercing. As you know allergies can develop at anytime.
Do you think you might be just a little bit paraniod over what could just be the equivilant of a mouth zit.
The specialist will know and if you need concrete proof then ask for biosy.
But seriously do not do stupid stuff like drugs and booze. Do not keep googling. Call your doctor about meds for anxiety, you know this behavior is not healthy.

I understand your fear of the unknown but do your best to stay in the moment and do not catastrophize the bump in your mouth. You are only two days out from seeing the new physician.



When you find your anxiety is getting the best of you try this breathing exercise:

Three-Part Breathing



Find a place where it's quiet.



Sit in a straight back chair with both feet on the floor or lie on the floor with a straight spine.



Begin inhaling by expanding the abdomen (let it inflate like a balloon), then move the breath into your rib cage and, finally, all the way into your upper chest.



Exhale by reversing this action; begin at your collarbones and exhale down through your rib cage and into your abdomen. Contract your abdominal muscles as you finish exhaling.



You might find it helpful to lightly place your right hand on your abdomen and your left hand on your rib cage to help direct the breath on its journey.



Begin by practicing for one minute and then gradually lengthen the practice to five minutes.


This technique helps to eliminate shallow chest breathing and encourages full exhalation and inhalation.

Once again, there's no need to push yourself or judge yourself for being anxious. The idea is simply to be quiet for a short time and notice your breathing.

Also coming here and sharing your fears was a wise thing to do as getting it out and talking about your anxiety helps take all the burden off you and allows us to support you which we do pretty well. :)

You are not going to die and if breathing does not work for you try getting out of the house, away from the internet and get some exercise. Stop the "stinknin thinkin" as it will not serve you well.

Each day can provide us with different opportunities to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems. Focus on the present and stop trying to predict what may happen next week. Next week will take care of itself.

I wish I knew somebody that had this pea sized hard lump on thie roof of their mouth too so I can ask them what it was, but nobody has this..thats what scares me..it seems to rare...it makes me think its deadly.... :( :(

and leaving the house makes me wanna come back online to talk about this...i cant tell my friends this cuz i dont want them to worry and freak out.

Yes Im freaking out because I dont want to die.
And Im scared to go to the doctor Thursday because Im afraid what he will tell me.
They are going to do a whole bun nch of tests n stuff, and then I HAVE TO WAIT for the results..and this part is frusterating :(((((

Do you guys think it could be cancer? Its on the roof of my mouth, the bump is pea sized...

it has white on top ... its hard.. it doesnt move or anything, it feels like a little bone or something...
ive had it for 2 months, ive smoekd for 5 years...

Yes I will let you know what the specialist says.
I hope he laughs at me, and tells me its nothing serious.
But you know, I can only hope for the best.

Just thought I'd do a quick update, not that anyone cares!

Umm so I just go back from the oral surgeon, and he told me that this bump was a *toris*

He said it wasnt cancer and it was nothing to worry about!!

So Im pretty happy at the moment!! Yay!

Yes you guys Im going to quit smoking!!! I havent had a cigarette in over a week.
And somebody offered me one today, and I said NO.
I am so proud of myself. Im glad I am quitting.

I too have been stuggling with this bump on the roof of my mouth. It has been about 2 years since I had first noticed it. I have been to several doctors and dentist who don't see much wrong with it. For the longest time I could not make out the lump when looking in my mouth but as of recently I can make out a pimple looking dot. I have been consrantly touching the roof of my moutch as of late and I think it is really starting to get irritated. It sometimes swells and goes down depending on what I eat and drink, though it has never actually grown in size of the last couple years. I have had a history with using chewing tobacco but have quit a while back. I am really nervouse that it is cancer but am hoping the doctors are right by saying it is nothing. It is more hard than soft I would also say. If anyone could please help ease my anxiety it would be greatly appritiated! Also is there any way to post pictures on here?
