STRANGE FEELINGS IN HEAD-ZAPS...ETC-ANXIETY?

After my many neurological...'issues"...(myoclonus...fasciculations...cramps)- eyes & visits to my 2 neuros..and "every neuro test in the book....EMGs..EEGs....MRI (of brain & spine)--all 'normal"-NOW...as i await my "evaluation" at...Mayo Clinic--(this July)--my newer(and scary) neuro symptoms...are "strange feelings"...in my head- smhair

From slight electric zaps...(no--not weaning off...or on any SSRIs)---to....a feeling in my head...like i'm gonna ....'pass out'--for a split second---I'm wondering---could these strange.."head feelings"...(i can't even EXPLAIN  them)---be due...to ..stress ? confused

If any of you here---can relate to this...or had something like this---please--get back...!  I'd luv to hear!

I can't relate to it, but hopefully someone will. Try not to worry about it...no need to worry until you know there's something actually to worry about. I've spent so much of my time worrying about the "what ifs"...what a waste!

Yes zaps are anxiety symptoms. Try to not let them bother you and they will go away I promise.

hi my friend
yes i do get the zappers on one sid of head or other it kinda feels lliike i put finger in light socket for a second
only milder

my doc says thsis is part of the a/p n other illnesses i hv going on

When I took Paxil for 7 months and quit cold turkey I got head zaps, like electic volts going through my head. It is a withdrawl system from not weaning off. It lasted 10 days.

I'm not sure where you live or if you spend anytime outdoors, but did they test you for lyme disease? I was recently diagnosed at the same time my a/p came. Not sure which came first the chicken or the egg, but I have both. I also had weird neuropathies and get pangs in my head. Just a thought to discuss with your doc. Good luck and I hope you find an answer soon!

Hi, I have had these head zaps. I had them in my teens starting in my head and it would affect my whole body==if I was holding a pen and writing all motion would stop for a split second. I have been on prozac for years, and I still get them but only in the head now.! I saw one answer referring to cranial nerve impulses. But, don't worry about it! I take my 30 mg of Prozac at night when I go to bed. When I wake up around 5 am to take my thyroid med and then go back in bed my head will zap: sometime once, sometimes two at a time, for maybe 4 sets of 2 LOL! Sometimes I get them during the day. I could be doing anything, but I feel great no matter if they come or not. I just tell my husband my head is zapping. I also have always worn glasses, one eyelid is slowly drooping more and more as I get older. Also, my in my neck my spine is not curved right, so I feel all this is related to the vertebrae in my neck always being out of alignment since birth. I am just thankful I am in this century where there is medication for this.

I had exactly these same symptoms. For me, it was due to Lyme/bartonella/babesia from one or more tick bites. My neuro tests always came back negative. It wasn't until I was put on a heavy course of antibiotics that these symptoms went away.

I also had extra head-zapping when I tried using Xanax for my insomnia. The infections caused extreme anxiety and insomnia, which is why I was prescribed Xanax in the first place. The Xanax exaggerated the head-zapping even further.

My Lyme, etc. infection has not followed the typical pattern that gets reports (flu-like symptoms, joint pain, etc.). For me, the infection started out as and has primarily been neurological.

If your evaluation doesn't turn up anything, I would strongly suggest seeing an LLMD (Lyme-literate MD). Lyme tests and other tests for tick borne infections are notoriously inaccurate. You need to see an LLMD to get an accurate diagnoses.

I really think its part of your anxiety but thats just my humble opinion

hoping you check bk and get the posts to you
you can ask yr doc about lyme or even ask on the lyme forum
again im not diagnosing you my friend but sure sounds like anxiety

After starting Paxil I experienced similar zaps that were accompanied with eye fluttering and followed with a strong feeling that I was going to pass out.

Hi there - have you had a look at dissociative disorder.  I have just been diagnosed with this but not entirely sure.  I have these strange feelings in my head and feeling that I'm gonna pass out and feel dizzy.  Especially when I go into a large shopping mall everyone starts to echo and fade away and then the dizziness starts.  I would really love to be properly diagnosed..... any suggestions??

JUST wondering how you are making out and if you have read replies
plz do not get self worrying about all kinds of different dx
that will only make your anxiety worse

Hay y'all I have been getting them for years now, started in my head and went on into my body and my neuro I have been seeing has been testing me for MS as well as narcolepsy, but the head and body shocks I get are from neurotoxicity as when I was painting cars for a living and it can last for an hour or more for me and I take oxycodone for as it seems to help with the neuro pain that I have along with my back pain
But that's just me as it did start with my A/P in my head at first
