hello there, i am a chronic pain forum person but i saw your question. i almost have a pharmacology degree so i can answer this. when you are stressed your body releases things called catahcolomines, among them are adrenaline, norepineperine, cortisol ect. these things kick start the adernergic system. some hypertension meds like beta-adernergic blockers or alpha-adernergic blockers land in the adernergic receptors stopping the catahcolamines from landing there agonizing or stimulating the sympathetic nervous system.
