I talked to our grown children, and husband about Dragon and they feel we should at least do the surgery tomorrow. To see sometime this week what stage of cancer she has. If it is stage 1 then we will proceed on. If stage 2 or 3 then it will be our decision to put her to sleep.
She is hiding today and doesn't want to interact with anyone. Our male cat Felix, has been watching over me and rubbing against me. I think this is his way of comforting me. He has been doing this for about a week and a half. Thought it was unusual, but really didn't think anything aboutf it until today. I had the bathroom trips after talking to the doctor again on the phone.
I will keep you posted as to the surgery etc. She will have to spend the night at the vet hospital. Thinking she will have to wear a collar to keep her from licking her wound. Have done searching on the internet about this.
Also my husband reminded me that today is the 23rd exactly 4 years to the day we lost our beloved Cleo.
What would you do if you were put in my shoes?

I think you are doing the right thing for you and for
Dragon by having the surgery done to see exactly what is going on.
I have one awesome Doberman that I love to pieces and he is my best friend, my comfort and joy as he is such wonderful therapy for me. He is just 3 years old and so full of himself. He has my hubby and I both wrapped around his paw.
We have also had to put our 2 previous Dobermans to sleep once we realized their qualtity of life was severely affected by their medical conditions. One was 11 years old and the other 13 years old. They were grandmother and granddaughter and we had both of them living with us. They died with in 2 years of each other.
I wish you peace,

I thank you so much for your thoughts. She had her surgery this morning and the doctor said it was a large tumor and right next to the shoulder bone so not sure he got it all. We are very much against taking a limb because that would not be Dragon anymore. We hope to get the test results this week but the doctor said it could be next week.
We are in such agony right now, we want her to be with us for a long time.
Will keep you posted as soon as the results come in. Again, thank you for all your kind thoughts. :=)

Oooh, gentle hugs to your kitty. I hope her recovery is swift, and that you will be able to get through this w/out too much anxiety.
Best Wishes,

Thank you so much for your hugs. We brought her home today and she has a 12 inch incision. Our male cat wants in to see her so bad but can't let him because he might pull out the stitches. We brought him in long enough to give her a couple of kisses, will try to do that several times a day. I am doing fine right now just to have her home. We hope to have her for as long as possible.

I am having diarrhea today because I still haven't heard back from the doctor. Found out it could be next Wednesday before we know anything. I know my OCD/Anxiety is kicking in, but can't help but worry, that is me. My doctor tells me that it is just how I am "wired". Had a colonoscopy in November and all was well. My pharmacist suggested taking a generic probiotic/acidolpholis (spelling?) Generic version. He said it won't interact with the meds I take. Also to get some Ensure until I can eat. All I had was water and whole grain toast. Also took 2 generic imodium AD.
Dragon is doing great, eating, drinking and bathroom. She doesn't seem to be in pain from the surgery.
I think what bothered me the most this morning she climbed under the covers with me and just nuzzled for at least 15 minutes. This is not something she usually does. I know I am probably reading too much into this.

We got the results of Dragon's biopsy this morning. The pathologist wouldn't give a stage grade. He said it was a very aggressive tumor and not sure if the doctor got it all. She gets her stitches out next Tuesday. We will know it has come back when she gets a large bump again. Meantime we will enjoy every minute we have with her. I am very sad this has happened but we have had some very close moments the past week. We will not go any further with treatment if it reoccurs.
So very sad, at this time but thank you all for your kind thoughts thus far.
