Does anyone take Ativan and does it work or make it worse?

It does work, I was prescribed 0.5mg when needed but it makes you feel so relaxed.  I only took it twice and half of it which was 0.25 I did not like it because I felt too sleepy and dizzy. But I am medication sensitive and I am also taking antidepressants. Now, everybody is different and you might not feel what I did so ...give it a try; it will only calm you.

could it be the zoloft getting into my system

I have taken Ativan several different times in my life and everytime found it to be quite helpful. I prefer tho that if I take a benzo, I like one with a longer life span. Something like klonopin which I am on now. It just lasts longer in your system and less chance of difficulties coming off if and when your doctor decides that for you. But Ativan made me feel just as calm. Try not to read too much into how it makes you feel if you can. I do that with new meds and end up creating for myself syptoms that I wouldn't otherwise have. Especially if I read the symptom paperwork. Good luck!!

I was prescribed Ativan over a month ago (0.5mg, once daily) and honestly, it helped me get through a really rough patch. It relaxed me (didn't take away the anxiety altogether, but took the edge off) and was an ENORMOUS help in getting me back to sleeping more than 4 hours a night. It was to the point that I couldn't sleep unless I'd been up and physically active for 15+ hours of the day, and even then it was never a good sleep.

My only recommendation is DON'T TAKE IT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH! Good Lord, any time I took it on an empty stomach I ended up throwing up, or almost throwing up.. That may just be me, though.

4 mg per day is a pretty generous dose.

If your looking for the longest acting benzo, ask about low dose Valium.  I take 2 mg up to 4 times a day when necessary which = 8 mg/24 hours.

Your dose of Ativan = approximately 40 mg of Valium.  Ativan is used  for the short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety or anxiety associated with symptoms of depression.

Remember not to use alcohol with  Ativan.

I took it a few nights ago when I was really anxious. I took a whole pill, and I think the last time I took it, a long time ago, I just took a half, so for the night and next day I was really disoriented. It's supposed to be a quick relaxer but not to be taken on a daily basis.I wouldn't because of how out of it I was.
