Rose,
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry I missed this thread until just now. Please accept my sincere apology.
First of all I understand your freaking out over the news pre-op as I have gone through this with my Hubby and his Crohn's. I was so very relieved to read that your surgery is over and you are on the road to recovery.
As for meds, I am like you as my body seems to metabolize the meds fast and therefore it will take higher doses of some medications for me when using the pain or benzo drugs. This is very normal as each person is different so you have my permission to drive the nurses crazy.
You may feel anxious, nervous, or scared when you first start to care for your colostomy. You may not like the way your body looks. You may feel like you are no longer in control of your body. These are normal feelings.
I have read about jeans called pajama jeans but truly do not know a lot about them. They may be worth checking out and I am going to post you a link to Amazon.com who does carry them.

There appears to be many brands and they are found at Targets, Walmarts etc. Just a thought.
I am glad you are aware of the Ostomy forum and I know if Ivy is posting to you that you are receiving good advice.
Keep us up to date and how you are doing and vent away as much as you need.
Healing prayers headed your way.
Kitt
