Hi, Im new here, but not new to anxiety and panic, ekkk...

Im new and I hope to make several friends here, and get some helpful information, I dont like taking meds, becasue sure as I read the warning labels and side effects , I have them all!!! I do take Valium, not on a regular basis, but usuaully at night. I feel Im captive to my home, driving is an issue, I have never been like this before, I did have an event happen to me, in 2000 , but could this all tie in?? Seems its alittle late but then again, I have been dealing with anxiety for a number of years...I have NOTHING to panic over or be anxious about, I dont get it...

Anyway HI!!!! Let me know of some of your symptoms...mine are awful, :(

Hi, WhyPanic. I'm new here too! :) I've had my doubts about taking meds too, for depression but I think maybe for anxiety too. My doctor told me not to read the side effects, I could get paranoid and maybe kinda get to be a hyprachondriac. I did read about side effects once, though, and I have had at least one side effect-itching!!
Do you know if you have an anxiety disorder called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? I've researched about it, and one type of the disorder is called a "Delayed reaction," or something like that. For example, a car accident happens and the person is okay but then months or years later, they develop this anxiety disorder.
I've been having panic attacks like every day. Do you ever get panic attacks?

Hi and welcome.

You have found a great place here full of information, support and people who understand exactly what you are going through.

I have a 29 year history of anxiety and over the many years I have learned through  CBT, using deep breathing exercises  and talking with others who have anxiety how to control my own anxiety.  I also take medications as I have major depressive disorder. My main issue is I let myself get caught up in "what if?" think or often knowns as anticipatory anxiety. 

Therapy also helps  me manage my  general anxiety. It does take time and effort, but it's so worth it.

I hope that you plan to stay on board. Post anytime with questions, sharing, or venting.

Thank you and Im glad to be here, I also get awful panic attacks I can send myself right into vertigo if I dont calm them down myself, on or around before statring my period they get way worse, ..Im 43 and weigh 110 , I use to weigh 200 pounds, I do eat right dont smoke or drink, quit 10 years ago....I dont like taking meds because Im very easily medicated..so it freaks me out, to alter my brain...idk...Im just a paranoid weirdo..I guess, My dughter says to me, MOM its all in your head...

Well, my reply, NO KIDDING.....if I could make it stop I would...

Welcome to the forum and nice to meet you. Sorry that you are having anxiety it can be a real hard thing to deal with like kitt mentioned CBT does get good results and gives you coping techniques so that you can get your anxiety to a more manageable level.

I have had anxiety for as long as I can remember and try my best to keep on top of things but that can be difficult at times. You will make good friends here we have a world wide membership. It is always a good thing to speak with others who will be able to relate to what you are going through. Keep posting

Hello everyone...I've suffered from panic attacks and bouts of agoraphobia since I was 19. I've tried many medications and some times of relief but now I'm off my lexapro since my insurance doesnt cover it and I can't afford it. I only use ativan .5mg as needed up to once a day. I feel so helpless. I have 2 children one 16 and one 3yr. I wish I had someone to call when all the panic starts so I don't feel so alone. It seems to help when u have that support.

I know exactly how you feel, i am also new here and the one thing i can tell you is that the people here are the most caring people i know.i am the same way when it comes to new meds and i have learned not to read the side effects on new meds, because i will have them if i know about them. you have come to the right place everyone here truly cares about each other and there is strenght in that. right now i am in the hospital or crohns and my panic is at an all time high but knowing that i can come here and tell someone how i really feel is better then any med i take. hold on and know you are not alone that thre are so many of us in the same predicament. take care and know that we truly care, sorry about the spelling on some heavy pain meds yeah

I'm new here as well. Married father of three living a great life till a couple of months ago. Since then I've been to the ER 4 times and doctor numerous times. Sometimes I think heart attack. And then I get worried after I leave because they didn't check anything else lol. It's crazy. And it's all health related even though they keep telling me there is nothing wrong with me, but I just can't believe that. Anyway, I'm always up for advice and will pitch in mine when I can. Thanks for all your replys, such great support, but its still hard even reading the great advice, have even made facebook friends here, too, Madhatter do you have a facebook...I have a group of friends that have the same issues, there...
I might try this med, this week, but had a great last few days...some days Im great others Im dying. as you know....

im new here as well, im 19 years old, and have severe panic/agoraphobia.i also tried going on medication. i tried effexor and zoloft, and both made me worse. im constantly lightheaded/dizzy all of the time, but both made it where anytime i got up i felt like i was going to pass out. im in the process of looking for counseling, but its hard to find it in my area and im not so sure about it. i make sure i dont read any side effects on medicine bc then i worry about it. its nice to have all of these kind people on here to talk to i wish you could send messages itd be nice to be able to talk when going through attacks.
