lelandsmama,
Welcome to the A & P Forum. I was dx 30 years ago and I am still a work in
progress. Trust that you will get better
and let's see if I can help you out a bit today ?
When facing a current or upcoming task that
overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, the first thing you can do is to divide
the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at
a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of
success.
Sometimes we get stressed out when everything
happens all at once. When this happens, take a deep breath and
try to find something to do for a few minutes to get your mind off of the problem.
Get some fresh air, listen to some music, or do an activity that
will give you a fresh perspective on things.
Visualize a red stop sign in your
mind when you encounter a fear provoking thought. When the negative thought
comes, think of a red stop sign that serves as a reminder to
stop focusing on that thought and to think of something else. You can then
try to think of something positive to replace the negative thought.
Each day can provide us with different opportunities
to learn new things and that includes learning how to deal with your problems.
Focus on the present and stop trying to predict what may happen next week. Next
week will take care of itself
One of the best remedies for anxiety is to talk
about it. Here's where good friends and family can come in. The old adage
"A problem shared is a problem halved"
I am glad that you have joined us. You will find
we are a really caring group of members.
Kindly,
