Hello everybody, well today has been a so-so day, so far, I went to my therapy yesterday and I felt that I was advancing and getting better with my horrible thoughts but, I ran into an article about
OCD and I am afraid that I might suffer from it, thing is that I always thought that OCD meant repeating rituals like washing hands over and over but it turns out that it can also mean repetitive thoughts of something like me that all of a sudden I fear that I might hurt somebody but I know I do not want to and immediately after, the anxious feelings in my stomach, also that it is an anxiety disorder....now I feel confused....will my therapy helped me getting through it? my therapy consists of accepting my thoughts and immediately changing them for a pleasant thought...I am also on medication which definetely has helped me but I still get these thoughts once in a while although not as often as before.. I will really appreciate your opinions, experiences thank you!

Hi Cln:)
Everyone has anxiety at some point in their lives right? It is a normal and important survival mechanism! It is only when it gets out of bounds that we even think of it in a negative way...
Well, and this is only my humble theory, we all at some point also have some OCD tendencies. I normally do not have an issue with OCD...but if I go on stress overload, my mind tends to go in that direction. Thoughts that I normally never get, will start to pester me...rationality flies out the window, ect.!
Some of the most centered, mentally healthy people I know sometimes have their 'pet' OCD issues...I think that it is human nature to fixate on certain things...it gives us comfort and a sense of control.
You are going through a lot of change lately. Dealing with anxiety, new medication, therapy, plus just all the other stuff of everyday life...I think that it is pretty normal what you are experiencing, and you may just be over-thinking/worrying about
it.
By all means, bring it up to your therapist though. OCD is in the anxiety spectrum, so he/she will know what to do to help you if your symptoms persist or get worse. (they hopefully/probably won't)
Try not to add to your anxiety by giving this too much thought. I think the less you focus on it, the better you will feel. Just talking about
may even help.:)
Keep us updated,

Thank you so much and yes scaredy cat it might be your theory but i agree with u. Just at my workplace, my boss and coworkers complain about
same issues. Definetely you are and have been of great help. It does help me to talk about
it and yes my therapist knows and she has giving me different techniques to deal with it. I want you to know though that i am positive and i will get better once again thank you!

I tend to have intrusive thoughts about
disturbing things depending on the situation I'm in. For instance, if I'm in or even near a graveyard, I'm afraid of dying or getting sick and the thoughts go on for hours or days...it's gotten better over time, and I learned to try doing as many positive things as I could so that I could also have more positive thoughts. :)

Intrusive thoughts are a part of anxiety... You have to learn to ighnore them and acknowledge them as irrational. By fufilling the compulsion of acknowleging them you only give them more power. I've had horrible bouts of intrusive thoughts.. they normally become most prevelant when i'm extremely tired and physically fatigued. Best of Luck! :)
