Zoloft--vivid dreams??

Good morning, everyone!! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced super vivid dreams while on zoloft, or any other meds like it. I've been on it for about 2 months, and I feel like it's finally working great, doing it's thing :). However, I've noticed i've been having super crazy dreams!! I've been sleeping great (haven't been for years!) but the dreams are just wacky, clear as day, and sometimes a bit uncomfortable! (in one, I was married to my father LOL. Luckily, we were just house hunting, and nothing else!!)

Lovemyfam, Every time I have taken Zoloft, including this time, I have had the vivid dreams. Some of them are pretty comical once you wake up and realize it was just a dream, but some of them are disturbing. It's just one of those whacky side effects of the med. They do tend to lessen over time. At this point, I will have one every now and then, but not as often as in the beginning.

Hope this makes you feel better, knowing your're not "crazy" LOL! It happens to alot of people who take AD's.

I have vivid dreams and it does not seem to matter what AD medication I am on.  I am able to wake up and recognize that often what I dreamed about may be connected to someone I had thought of that day and my dreams are about being lost or abandoned and trying to find my friends or family.  I let them go and move on with my day as they are dreams and will not hurt me.  I do not have nightmares.

Good to meet you. Yes vivid dreams are a known side effect of a lot of antidepressants if it becomes bothersome I would mention it to your doctor I am glad that the Zoloft is working well for you.

I have had a problem with nightmares for as long as I can remember and they happen most nights.

I have vivid dreams as well. I'm in week 8 of this round of Zoloft (second time on it) and for me the dreams don't start until I get about a month into the meds.....weird I know but normal! :)

Oh yeah. I get them big time. I've always had quite vivid dreams but they seem even more so when I'm on Zoloft. Some are so vivid I have to really think weather I've had a conversation or seen something in a dream or real life. Luckily most are harmless but sometimes I do get bad dreams sometimes. I also often wake from them in a cold sweat.

Thanks, belle! Hearing these stories helps. I've noticed that if I take Xanax before I fall asleep, I also get the vivid dreams. Last night, thinking about it, I don't think my dreams were vivid, but I also had a very choppy sleep...so maybe I didn't get to that deep, deep sleep where those kinds of dreams occur. Well, since they're just dreams and don't seem to interfere with my sleep, I'll take them...right now, zoloft is totally working, so the trade off of feeling great when awake is better than weirdness when I'm sleeping :)

Yeah. I get extremely vivid dreams that they are almost nightmares. Real nasty stuff that I can't even mention here. OMG, it feels as if I am experiencing a whole new 9/11 type fear in the dream

Great, looks like I have some more fun to look forward to :) been on 3 weeks now, 2 at 25mg and one at 50mg

Hi Everyone!

 I took my Zoloft at 7:30 pm and now it's 11:00 and I can't sleep I have been having very life-like VIVID DREAMS! I'm sixteen and on 25 mg. I wake up horrified by these dreams because I remember them SO CLEARLY! Can anyone help me weasel myself out of these CrAzY Dreams? sad cry

I take Ambien  and have vivid dreams. I'm having some trying times and the doctor had slowly taking me off Cymbalta, slowly. Now I'm slowly going on Zoloft, .25. I'm on my third day, not bad. I understand that it take time for the Zoloft to work. Wonder if I'll have crazy and wild dreams with this combo shocked   Sweet Dreams

When I started taking A/D medicine the first time, years ago, I told my husband, "The literature said that I would have vivid dreams - not that my dreams would come to life and attack me!" haha

It's definitely not just you. For me, they've gotten better with time. Hopefully, yours will, too.

Panda Love, try to remember that they're only dreams and cannot hurt you. When you wake up, remind yourself that it was just a dream. Say it out loud, "That was only a dream. It has in no way affected me or my reality!"
