One of the things that helps to recover from anxiety is replacing negative thinking with positive thinking, changing your perspective. Over the years I've gotten pretty good at finding something positive in just about every bad situation.
Initially I didn't like how my heart felt and lack of air as I worked out, like most it felt to me similar to an anxiety attack. Facing our fears goes a long way in recovering.
Think about it this way....If we face our fear about something that makes us uncomfortable like for me it's driving in isolated areas...for some it maybe a grocery store or a crowd of people, whatever it is that causes you anxiety. Now, when you face a fear like that...the benefit is confidence and that is a good thing, but to face a fear like exercising and the sensations that come with it has an added bonus.
The focus should be on the fact that the heart is a muscle and if we want a muscle to be strong it needs a workout and that comes from it beating hard for an extended period of time. Remember that when we have anxiety if our heart beats hard it adrenaline driven, but when we workout it is the natural process of our heart to keep our muscles supplied with the blood that they need and also the faster breathing to give our body the added oxygen that is needed.
All that is good stuff!! Maybe it feels a little scary but know that it's a great benefit for our heart, so if you face it and get through it....not only can you gain confidence, but also better health.....Have a great day!......WM
