Health anxiety is awful because I changed doctors and she wants me to start 20mg of prozac and I'm afraid to take it. I was suppose to start it 2 days ago and I keep putting it off. Is anyone on this and tell me what to expect.

I'm not on it now, but I did take it for a couple of years. The side effects vary from person to person, as does the usefulness. I did not have any negative side effects, and it did help. It's up to you. Good luck.

I don't have any personal experience with this...but I can tell you that the fear of taking medicine is pretty common. There have been many posts about this here, so you are not alone. Here is an article expaining more, and maybe it will shed some light on what you are feeling and help:

Hi

Medication is always a personal choice as what works well for one person may not work well for an other. I have taken Prozac in the past and it did not agree with me so I changed to an other med I would suggest if your doctor has prescribed it give it a go and if you feel it's not working for you go back and have a chat with your doctor.

Thank you, I will try it tomorrow. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Just had some bad experiences with ssri's in the past so Im nervous about taking it. Wish she started me on 10mg instead of 20mg.

You could always give her a call and ask if you can split the pill for the first week...it's worth asking.:)

I opened the pill and poured half the powder out. I will feel better about taking a lower dose at first to see how it goes.

Just give your doctor or pharmacist a call to be sure that this is okay to do...IDK about your Rx...but I have heard that capsules are sometimes 'time release'...so I just want to make sure that it is safe for you to half a capsule, since it is different than splitting a pill.
