Hi there I'm a 23 year old guy..I stil concider myself very young and yet I've been having axiety like symptoms for the past 4 months now..I gt pains in my chest most on the left side. I also have a tingling sensation in my left arm and get pains and numbness in my left arm..shortness of breath and then I start feel a bit dizzy..I went to the doctor and they told me its jst stress and she gave me tranquilisers..since the iv been on herbal tranquilisers( biral ) ever since..hope some can give me advice cos I'm worrying it myt be my heart also

Almost every symptom you have described can be related to anxiety. I had all the sensations in the book, including dizziness, suffocation sensation, stomach aches, etc. One of the most common symptoms of anxiety, panic disorder is the fear of heart failure. U should check this site's anxiety resources, and you will find there is a variety of symptoms in connection with anxiety and panic disorder, including your described sensations and pains. However, visiting a medic and having a check up never hurts and it may calm you down. Good luck

Great advice by tangerine! Our Resource Guide is a great place to find a lot of info and even links that teach breathing and relaxation exercises, that when practiced regularly, can decrease your physical symptoms.

The symptoms you described sound like anxiety attack symptoms. I unfortunetely know all about them. When i have a panic attack, I get dizzy, nauseous, shaky, my stomach hurts, arms and other things start going numb and cold, I can't breathe normally, and just have an overall sense of doom. Everyone reacts to attacks differently, and some of the symptoms can really make you think that you are having a much more serious problem.

the symptoms can vary from person to person Two common ones during a full blown panic attack is feeling like you are going to die from a heart attack or feel like you are going crazy. Panic attacks can be bad enough to practically incapacitate you.

Hi...

I'm in need of someone to talk to also about anxiety attacks... I too get pain and tingling in my left arm, finger tips may turn slightly blue, i also get chest pain but mostly on my right side, i also have chest tightness, the lump in my throat feeling, trembling feeling, palpitations, shaky feelings, muscle twitching, and grinding of teeth... I also cry more often than i should, and sometimes i'm scared to go back to sleep.... Can someone help me out a bit and give some advice on what else I can do???

Hi Mz_Lea and welcome!

I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with these awful symptoms at the moment.

First of all, we can't be sure of anything or say for sure that you are indeed experiencing anxiety, so have you had a consultation with your doctor regarding this...or a recent check up?

If so, and you were clear in the way of physical health, then you can start to focus on anxiety management if you haven't already.

Have you tried anything so far? There are many good options that include therapy and medication. You and your doctor can discuss these and see what would be best for you.

In the meantime, there are some great self-help ideas in our Resource Guide (main page, 1st post)  If you practice everyday the breathing and relaxation (links are there) exercises shown...you will most likely see improvement in your symptoms soon.:)

Keep posting here as well. We all have similar struggles and are here to listen to and support each other.:)
