Hi,

I went to see the doctor today. I told him how sleeply 50mg of sertraline was making me. So, now he wants me to start taking it at night as well as up the dosage since 50mg doesn't seem to be working. So, tonight at 7, it 75mg. even though I took 50mg this morning. I'm almost as nervous as I was when I took the first dose...since, I had 50mg this morning...along with the 75mg...I'll have to take tonight...I hope everything works out okay.

Well he is the dr and he knows what is best ...just try to relax so you don't make yourself more nervous....

I would feel the same way! But I agree with velaineg, there's a reason it takes years to become a doc. Try to distract yourself and have faith in your doc's knowledge.

Well, it's day 18 and I just took 75mg of Sertraline. Feeling kind of nervous. Anyone know how this stufff works? How exactly does it take away anxiety and OCD?

Hey there,  Just for my own info can you clarify for me?

Did your Dr. raise your dose of Zoloft from 50  mg once a day in the morning to 75mg once a day in the evening ?

Or did he raise your dose tfrom 50 mg to 125mg once a day in the evening.  I am a bit confused as it feels to me like something in your post did not feel right.

And as for Drs., love em, many good friends are Drs. but I am very much for advocating for oneself and for asking for explanations in layman's terms.  Don't be afraid to question your Drs. orders as mistakes are avoided sometimes by asking when, why, what, how etc.

When I was on Zoloft over time I ended up on 200mg. It did end up really helping me and I took it for almost 2 years. I found that it started helping a little the first week, but took several to reach full power. I was taking it for extreme anxiety and obsessive thoughts.

I have recently started relapsing into my panic again and the doc is starting me on Celexa this go round because I didn't like the weight gain I had on Zoloft, however, if it doesn't work I would be back on Zoloft on a heart beat. Sometimes, as brutally hard as it is, we need to take a breath and just trust in our docs.

Thanks everyone,

It's the first one StKitt...75mg in the evening. I was just worried because I had already taken 50mg this morning which makes it a total 125 for the day.

I didn't feel so great last night. My mind was doing these racing mind warp things everytime I closed my eyes to go to sleep. My head had this light slight dizzy feeling and my heart felt like it would race every so often and I didn't get to sleep until around 2. Then I couldn't get up for the world. I have to be at work at 7:30...I was still in bed at 7:03. Then the only thing I could do today was yawn and try to stay awake. I really hope this medication works.

That sucks...I am praying that it starts helping you and if it doesn't I would talk to the dr....maybe it isn't the right med for you? I am not a dr or suggesting anything but you know how you feel.....Take care...

Do remember that any change in mess, time, dose, brand, will have its rough spots. When I was put on Zoloft it helped, but barely. I hard to tolerate the upping of the med many times, but I was a who.e new person at 200mg. I am not a doc, and it may not work for you, but you should try and trust in the professional. They will get you where you need to be.

What did you guys do when you felt the side effects especially the mind zap one. I almost want to panic...the only thing that kept me sane was that I felt no pain and I remembered that someone on here said they had felt the same thing.

I honestly just was able to ride it out. It wasn't easy, but they went away almost entirely with time. Some, like weight gain, didn't. For me it was a rough journey, but worth it end the end. Just remember to communicate with your doctor. They are the one who can help you with the side effects more than anyone else.

Hi Pink,

Back at the end of February I started my second stint with Zoloft after a pretty traumatic event in my life. The first time it work great for me so my doctor started me on it again. However, as most of us who suffer with anxiety, I wanted to start feeling better FAST....right now. :) Well, that doesn't happen. So what I did ( and I don't encourage anyone ever doing this) I started myself on a higher dose that the doctor told me to start with because my warped logic said the more and faster I get it in my system the faster it will work. WRONG! Anyway, I went back down to 50mg for two weeks, then up to 75mg for two weeks and then 100 for two weeks and finally my last increase 150mg which I am still on at this time.

For me, both times, it wasn't until I got to the 100mg dose that I really felt better. I could slowly feel some changes but by about 5-6 week things were going much better. With that being said, I did have quite a bit of nervousness, anxiety (go figure) and a general uneasiness for the first few weeks. And strangely enough my side effects the second time around were completely different that the first time.

I also had the mind zap but they went away.....what I did was kept myself busy with other things....relaxation cds, meditation etc so I wouldn't focus so much on how I felt. Did it work all the time.....no.....but I stuck with it and soon it really began to help.

I'm only at 75mg, so I hope when I hit 100mg that it'll start working for me too since I hear sertraline is the ssri with the fewest side effects.

I am still at the start 25mg and I just hit 2 weeks yesterday....the dr said when I feel like it go to 50mg...do you think it is too early to go to 50 or should I start 50 now?  Still feeling really nervous and smaller periods of panic....mornings worse....have already lost 7-8 lbs b/c I am just not too hungry...drinking lots of water tho...

PinkSkyCloud.....I hope you are doing well...I have gone up on my zoloft (Sertraline) last night....and feeling a bit nauseaus and yucky but hopefully going up will help....I am on 16th so just a bit over two weeks ..I was hoping it would make me feel better quicker this time...it seemed to at first but I guess I have to be patient and give it time....let me know how you are.....

Hi, Velaineg.

I'm doing okay. I've had a bit of an upset stomach for the past day and a half or so. I don't think it's the meds. though. As for the Sertraline, I'm still taking it...75mg a day at 7 at night. I don't really feel much of anything except for tired. I'm a little nervous though. I'm almost out of meds...and when I went to pick up my refill at the pharmacist...there was a problem with the doc and insurance company...I guess because he gave me a script for more of the drug sooner because he upped my dose which means I ran out sooner than would be expected had I been taking the 50mg a day. I hope they fix the problems soon otherwise I'll be on here telling you guys about withdrawal effects until my appt. on the 19th. I really don't feel much of anything though...I'm a bit disappointed...I still have anxiety, ocd symptoms and possible adhd symptoms that could be anxiety or adhd but I won't know until the meds. start working....how's the nausea...feeling any better yet? do you feel any positive effects from the meds. yet? less anxiety etc?

Well, I am just impatiently waiting for this stuff to kick in all the way.....I went up to 25mg plus 1/2 so 37.5 for the last 2 days and think I feel better in the afternoons but in the mornings still nauseaus and nervous...it is just horrible at work tho trying to keep my mind off feeling blah all the time...I have periods of good and then some panic comes....I am taking clonozepam when I feel like I need it throughout the day but nothing over 3/4 of a 1mg pill....this second time getting back on sertraline is just not as quick as I wanted....but I am gonna hang in there like you ...cause can't go backwards now....I work in an office under fluorescent lights and that really messes with me sometimes too...take care and keep in touch....
