Hello stress97 and Mark.p and welcome to you both!
Stress97, all of the symptoms that you mentioned are fairly common with anxiety. It does sound like you have a lot going on at the moment...and the anxiety is oppurtunistic! It will take advantage of work stress, illness, sleep deprivation, ect...and get you while you are down.:(
The good news is, you can counter it by using coping and decompression techniques. Breathing and relaxation exercises can be really effective if practiced daily. We have some in our Resource Guide (main page, 1st post)
If you continue to have issues (high blood pressure/palpitations) you may want to consider talking to your doctor about treatment options such as medication and or therapy. Prolonged anxiety/stress can have ill health effects is left untreated, so management is important.:)
Mark.p you are not alone with the GERD/anxiety connection! We have had so many members here with the same problems...they sometimes go hand in hand. I would recommend the same self-help tips that I mentioned earlier in our Resource Guide above...and also see if you can get your doctor to secure a referral/appointment with a therapist. Doctors network, and he/she may be of assistance in this area. (even if you have to get on a waiting list, or start with group therapy, go for it...something is better than nothing.)
I hope that both of you find the care and understanding that you seek here. This is a great place of help and support, and we look forward to getting to know you better.
Please feel free to post your own thread of introduction soon, if you feel comfortable doing so!
