Hello,
So I went to the doc today for my check up. I told him of my symptoms I had been having. He checked me over and we had a good discussion. He suggested I continue with therapy and for me to watch my diet. I told him how I had symptoms after I ate Chinese and he said it's possible that I have a syndrome that causes my anxiety to flare up. I told him that Xanax wasn't working too well. He is going to start me off on Zoloft 25mg for now and said he will increase the dosage if need be. He warned me that it can possibly cause suicidal effects and if I was feeling suicidal to let him know. Hopefully this will work for me and be an aid in coping with anxiety. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with Zoloft 25mg? Has anyone used it in correlation with Hydroxyzine HC1 50 mg? My doctor us continuing it since I told him it works better for me than Xanax.

I don't have advice...but I can offer motivation/encouragement!:)

I hope that this change in Rx works really well for you! Being aware of possible side effects is wise...

...but try not to anticipate any of them...that is different!  It's very possible that  you may not have any at all.:)

Keep us posted as to how it is going for you okay?

Hi. I started on 25mg of Zoloft and a small amount of Xanax. The Xanax was on an as needed basis. Two months later I went up to 50mg. That worked for 5 yrs or so. I recently hit a bad patch so my Zoloft was increased. No suicidal thoughts. I agree with SC. Be aware of side effects but don't obsess about them. Zoloft has been successfully used by many people with no side effects. I was one of them. Keep good thoughts.

I have been on 50mg of Zoloft for a few years and I really only ever had one side effect of from it. Seemed to work for me pretty well for a while, but it has been a long term one.

Hey all,
I had a really bad panic attack last night. I haven't started Zoloft yet but reading about people quitting it really scared me, alongside the warnings I was reading in the pamphlet. It was so bad I had to go sleep at my parents. My BP was very good if not slightly low. This morning my pulse was elevated (113 resting) but returned to normal after I took my medicine (Atenolol 50mg). Anyway I feel a little better today, with some mild chest discomfort.
I'm planning on starting the Zoloft tonight. I am worried about the weight gain. I've been working out and eatting better all this week, I would hate for a med to counteract my progress in naturally overcoming my Anxiety.

Any advice?

I took Zoloft several years ago. The only side effect I had was increased sweating. It worked GREAT for my anxiety though. I felt so good that I quit taking it (when will I learn that I feel better BECAUSE of the medication :) ) I think all of us tend to read every side effect and horror story and convince ourselves we will have them. I try to remind myself that people are only going to go online and write about a bad experience. There are THOUSANDS that have great experiences....they just don't feel the need to go write about it. Hi Rx,

I am on my second round of Zoloft. I made a very bad decision to stop taking it a few years back cold turkey and had a bad relapse. However, I can say for me Zoloft has been amazing. Yes, I did have side effects which oddly enough were completely different the second time around. My side effects were nothing which I couldn't deal with because I knew if I hung in there I would feel better.

It's usually around 3 weeks when I begin to feel some good changes and by 6-8 weeks things are really going well. Patience is the key. That can be a challenge I know but just keep with it.

As with child birth (haha) everyone reacts differently to anti-depressants so don't read too much into the negatives of the possible side effects. Focus on getting better and taking control of your world. :)

Hello,
I decided to quit the Zoloft and my Doc is currently weaning me off it. I have three more doses before I'm done. I look forward to being off it. I feel like crap after taking it the day after and especially the day I don't take it (every other day). I'm having bad migraines and it may be a coincidence but they started alongside the Zoloft. It could be stress but I feel like I'm sensitive to the medicine. I feel zombie'd out and almost emotionless after I taking it. My doc has a follow up with me next month, if the symptoms persist he said he'll consider Topamax. I'll also look into another anxiety med, hopefully something other than Xanax. My main symptom I have is the heart flutters, not palpitations. They go away sometimes if I use the "good/bad" breathing technique. It still is so worrying to have the symptoms... but I know logically that surely if it was something truly troubling it would have shown up on; one of my many EKGs, a Holter monitor, an Echo Cardiogram, blood work, and a CT scan. There is still the illogical part of my brain that wants immediate relief, and thinks I somehow have more knowledge than multiple M.D.'s, RN's, and specialist.
Alas is the world of a GAD person..

I hope that the weaning goes well, and that you can possibly look into working with your anxiety issues another way? Perhaps therapy, self-help or another medication that you can tolerate and doesn't cause you side effects.

I also hope that you get the answers that you need in regards to your migraines and related symptoms.

I know that it is frustrating, but it is often quite a quest to find the right thing(s) that are going to help you and bring relief.
