Need Help and to Vent

Hello,
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I am desperate to find help for my mother. It is rather long but i will start from the beginning.

During October of 2010, my mother instantly had blood pressure readings and heart rate readings off the scale. Prior to this she has lived her whole life healthy and no problems. This happened instantly like someone slammed a door on her. It was unforeseen and no warning. She was 64 at the time. Since that day her life has been terrible. We have been to 15-20 different "so-called" apparent 9 year old doctors, 5-6 different hospitals usually by Ambulance because her heart rate and BP would get so high she was unable to function or walk. She has also been visiting a local cardiologist for the last 1-1/2 years now. He says her heart as as good as any he has seen in all his years for a now 66 year old woman. She has been to "shrinks" for anxiety, she has been to natural herbalists, neurologists, urologists, and every other quack doctor out there that we get referred to.

None of these so called doctors/specialists have a clue! She has worn the heart monitors numerous times, had hospital stays up to a week for observation. They can find nothing! (sorry, i'm getting really pissed just thinking about all she's been thru).

A year ago they tried to put her on beta blockers (slow death pills) and diuretics, both of which almost killed her instantly. Her HR & BP shot off the scale and was completely incapacitated. So, next they all said she must have anxiety (calmest person i have ever known, but whatever). So, we go down that road and they fill her with different drugs and so on. One drug they gave her seemed to slightly improve the issue but it was still happening. So, she still takes this one drug but what little affect it had is all gone now.

So, here we are in 2013, still fighting this same BS and all the so called wonderful doctors/specialists out here don't have a clue. Am i too assume my mother has the one and only case of these symptoms ever to hit mankind? She thinks she has food allergy and that her adrenal glands are shot. I DON"T!!! I think she has an electrical problem in her head but i'm just an idiot apparently. Something has to tell her HR & BP to leave the planet. If it were food she should show other signs of reaction and there are none. They have "briefly" checked her electrical impulses but not to the degree they should IMO. Of course in every test they perform they all come back with "ma'am, your just as healthy as anyone we've ever seen for your age, take this pill, go home and call us if you don't feel any better tomorrow", what a joke! Yet, that very evening her HR & BP can go completely out of sight and there we are again.

So, since she is so healthy and they can find nothing wrong with her, am i to assume that seeing her bedridden and lethargic because of this that it is my imagination or they just flat out really that STUPID? She can't and won't eat now because every time she eats anything her HR and BP shoots thru the roof. She is losing weight faster than i can believe and cannot barely function enough to drive herself around anymore.

So after many many thousands of dollars in doctor bills and hospital stays, she is no better off than 1-1/2 years ago. "Gee, thanks medical field for all your lack of help". I'm sorry but i am furious that instead of someone staying with this and finding the problem, all they want to do is pump her with drugs so they can get their kickbacks from all the pharmaceutical companies and that makes my blood boil. They obviously don't give a crap that she is dire straits now. I bet if it was their mother they would not stop working until it was solved.

Has anyone here every dealt with this or know of a legitimate doctor anywhere in the lower 48 that can diagnose and treat this? We will travel anywhere if there is someone other than the 9 year olds we've been to that can figure this out and not waste our time and money. Her body cannot take this extreme level of heart stress much longer.

Thanks Mooseina. Yes, it is destroying my life right along with hers. Funny you mention this research type hospital. I just left mom and we were discussing that very thing. We have the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler near us. She is gonna make an appointment next week and hopefully we can make some progress this go around. I keep saying she has a neurological problem, i'm no doctor but something is telling me that is where the problem is based on everything i have seen. Thanks for your comments. I'll try to post the results good or bad.

What about online research? What has that revealed for you? I'm assuming you've done some, as you seem at your wits end. Do her symptoms point to a neuro problem? Also, is there anything in common with her episodes? Is she doing something in particular that seems to set them off? And what resolves them?

I'm super curious to find out what the problem is, and I really hope this next appointment is the start of finding a DX for her!
