It even has a psychological term which is called classical conditioning. Something neutral (the car) is associated with something bad (the panic) and you start to associate the car with panic.
I've experienced the exact same thing. I'm struggling with anxiety related to sleep because that's when I would get my panic attacks. It's really common with anxiety sufferers..You're not alone!

I myself am trying to overcome my fear of driving over bridges. Kind of hard to avoid living in the Bay Area, CA
