hello!

Its seasonal allergy season time again and this one is hitting me hard. I desperately want to just get over it, but my fear of side effects in taking medications always get the best of me.

I never really needed allergy medicine until this year and am scared to death of the side effects.

How do you guys cope in just taking the meds?

As an allergy sufferer for many years, I can honestly say I haven't experienced any noticable side effects from taking allergy meds aside from some drowsiness (buy the non drowsy kinds). You can also try a nasal rinse - I find these somewhat helpful and they're natural - no side effects.

I agree with AnxiousAngry, I have found nasal rinses (neti pots) very helpful. If you haven't tried it before, it is a very strange sensation, but you get over it and then feel better without having to worry about side effects!

I am worried about side effects as well, in everything no matter what type of pill...I am constantly reading the labels over and over...also when I take your average pill for a head, Tylenol or motrin or whatever it is..I am constantly reading how many to take and how far apart, even though I really already know....I found myself keeping a pad of paper and writing it all down too...will this ever end??? grrr.

I have the same problem-Allergies and fear of meds.
Back in the middle of January, I woke up, stood up, started to go on with my day, I noticed a strange feeling. I felt spacey. No headache, Just...spacey, not right. I don't do drugs (as I have a fear of any drugs,antibiotics,etc) So, this confused me. A couple weeks after, I started to notice my left ear was hurting. (Spacey feeling still going on) I've let this all go on until Just a couple weeks ago, I went to my Doctor. I was scared and didnt know what was going on with me. I had all type of crazy thought. As much as I didnt want to take an antibiotic- I did. I procrastinated for the longest though. I took the z-pack. And I finished the last one this past wednesday. Well, last week I noticed tingly feelin in my head. And just yesterday I noticed the feelin of my head burning! That's what it feels like. Or Heatwaves. I don't know. It's hard to explain. An no, I am not crazy, Im very sane. But, I am so worried now. I hope the new spacey-dizziness and burning sensation is just a reaction from the z-pack (zythromax) They said it stays in the body longer than other antibiotics. I pray this goes away in a week. But, I believe my esatchian tubes have fluid in them, which is what I told my doctor and he prescribed the z-pack. I'm going to see an Otologist Monday. I never had anxiety problems well, Panic attacks -Is more so what I have, until this started happening to me. So now I have the tingling and hot-head sensation along with the problem I had before. (spacey) This is unreal.... I just want to go back to myself in December, and before. Does anyone have input on this? Thanks.

You might try this, I had a sinus infection so bad I ended up in a hospital about 20 years ago, ton's of anti b's
even after I was discharged I was stopped up, I had a friend who was an MD back then and he would often go to a foreign country as a missionary dr., He told me to get a squeeze bottle like afrain and dump the stuff out, take a half tea spoon of salt and put it in a 8 oz. glass, fill glass with scalding water, stir until its clear and let cool, then fill the afrain bottle. He told me to get directly over the sink and hold one side of nose, suck in and squeeze the bottle. I did this two times to each side, thought I would die, but the pain departed rapidly and man I then knew why he said stand over the sink. I have not had to ever do it again and I never get sinus infections any-more. It will sure take your mind off your fears.
