Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations are a great tool to reprogram your unconscious mind from negative thinking to positive. The idea is to take positive statements of what you would like to see manifested, and repeat them enough so that they’re part of your way of thinking and seeing the world; this operates in the same way that negative self-talk does, but in a way that benefits you.

Let us all practice writing positive affirmations in this thread. I will start cool .

I love and approve of myself.

I am drawing from my inner strength and inner light.

I know my inner self will guide me to the right decision.

I take great pleasure in my friends, even if we disagree or live different lives.

I am OK !

Probably the most popular way to harness the power of affirmations is to simply repeat them to yourself on a regular basis. Repeating them mentally several times in the morning or evening can be effective; repeating them aloud is even more effective because you hear them more clearly that way.

Let us all add on to the positive affirmations and post them here in this thread.

Great affirmations...................I was in a bind this morning as I started to panic about a clinic appointment and I used positive affirmations to get me out the door and on my way.

I just kept telling myself, " You have done this before, you can do it again"

Its just anxiety, it will not hurt me

You've felt this before and everything was ok, there is no difference this time

Your going to be okay, everything is okay! You will make it thru this.

GOD is a doctor, he knows what you are going thru and will fix it

Just to name a few of what I rehearse almost every other minute of my life! :)

At the core of who I am, there IS immense strength and calm.

This too shall pass.

I believe in myself more than I believe in the anxiety.

I can and will heal again from this.

So how can a few simple phrases make all the difference? By promoting positive self-image and outlook, of course.

But don’t hold on to specific affirmations for too long— out-of-date statements can result in negative effects. Because everyone’s “inner truths” change over time, it's important to alter affirmations as personal goals and issues change.

And don't worry if saying new positive affirmations feels like a blatant lie. In the beginning, it’s normal to question new statements and beliefs— in fact, that means the positive affirmations are challenging the subconscious. Keep on keepin on, because it will take some time to change those negative beliefs.

My positive affirmations for today are in relation to a call I have made for a second oncology opinion as just thinking about seeing another Dr. causes my anxiety to flair.

" I can make this appointment, I can do it without breaking down in tears"

" I will go out today and do some window shopping and if my anxiety starts to spike I will pull myself back into the moment."

You are all doing great and keep it up.

I have one for on of my favorite authors terry pratchett
'at this time, in this place' then i try to focus on what I'm doing at that moment.
I also like 'calm blue ocean, calm blue ocean'. I get a mental image of Miss Hoover from the Simpsons bracing her self to face her class.

Reading back through my Caring Bridge Posts I found these that I used so very often during chemo or any hard times in my life.
"I can choose a positive frame of mind."

"I can find balance in my life"

In the words of Maya Angelou, "If you can't change your situation, change your thinking about it!".

Positive affirmations - It is April and I hope everyone can post more affirmations as the best way to get into the habit of using positive affirmations is to keep repeating them and changing the affirmations to deal with what is causing your anxiety.
"I live life courageously. I am able to overcome my fears".

"I am at peace. I let harmony rule my life".



"I am replacing anxiety with trust".



Remember, avoid using negative words like “no,” or “never.” You must repeat, and/or write your affirmation as much as possible so it becomes internalized, becomes a true statement that you believe, not just a bunch of words without meaning. Couple your statement with guided imagery to make it more powerful and a fact of your life.

This is a tried and true method of reducing your anxiety.

I cannot fail, if I fall I will get up, brush the dirt off, and get back on the play ground with all the other kids,
if I happen to cry an Angel will dry my tears, if I am afraid another Angel will comfort me,
all will be well, "you see, I am surrounded by Angel's and they are all here with me,
on this PAD forum"!

I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up, a cho-cho train or a fire-engine!

My anxiety is running high this morning as I am going to go to a social gathering and I worry my anxiety will get in the way.
My affirmations for today:

"I grow in strength with every forward step I take."



"Fear is only a feeling; it cannot hold me back."



" I put my worries in God's hands and let go of my fears as I move forward through today."



Say a prayer for my success today.

Great additions. Come on newbies and not so newbies, talking positively to yourself helps decrease your negative feelings about life.

I'm ok. I'm very lucky, I shouldn't complain cause a lot of people have nothing and no one out there. So I am so blessed to have my health and a wonderful boyfriend, family and great friends!

I have never tried daily affirmation before, so I found some that I can identify with that I can really believe in.

I trust in the process of life.
My life is filled with love, fun and friendship all I need do is stop all criticism, forgive, relax and be open.
I am willing to let my anxious thoughts go.
