I moved your post to a thread of its own, on account of when you tag onto an old one, you can get lost in the shuffle. This way more people can recognize you as new and welcome you aboard.

Many of us here have similar issues, so know that we care and understand.
You mentioned Xanax, so I assume that you are under a doctor's care. Was the option of therapy also brought up? I highly recommend it as a long term treatment plan for anxiety and panic.
Ask your doctor for a referral if possible, or look on your own if need be, for a therapist who can help you. I am sure that you will find it a great investment of your time and efforts.
