Increasing Effexor XR tomorrow

I called my Dr. today and asked her about upping my Effexor XR to 150 mg, she told me to call her this week about it. She gave me the all clear, called in the prescription for 150 mg and I will be starting the higher dose tomorrow...I am sure I will do fine on the dose, since I took that dose before.

Just wanted to ask if my family here could say a small prayer for me that I do well on that dose again!!! I feel like I am another step closer to feeling like my old self!!!

Okay, so my anxiety is working on me right now as I type. It has been bothering me for the past few hours...I'm not sure why though...I wasn't thinking about anything that I know of that would have caused my anxiety to spike, but spike it has. Usually I feel the best at this time of day...oh, I can't wait for some anxiety free days!!

Silky, Remember anxiety is a subconscious reaction to an external or internal trigger, in short the subconscious knows our weakness and uses them against us, that's the real reason for all the self help distraction mechanisms. "Just my opinion, if the subconscious primitive part of our brain can bring us down
to a mental bowl of jello, then it can become dominant and run wild with the fight or flight symptoms".

I have times too,where one min you are doing good&pow out of no where her come anxiety(I Hate It) and to me Iam starting to think just like Larry&may I add our neg thoughts scared to let our good thoughts be happy,where without us knowing it out of no where neg steps in. Hope you do well&know that you will do well&you will.

Thank you for the prayers and encouraging words! I try to think of positive things too when the anxiety really kicks in, sometimes it works, others times it doesn't and I just have to wait for it to pass, which it always does. But sometimes waiting for it to pass seems to take forever, even though I know it doesn't.

So I didn't increase my Effexor XR today because my husband forgot to pick up the prescription last night. I guess I will shoot for tomorrow...no one will be home but me since the family is going to the amusement park for the day, and I have opted not to go because of my anxiety, the noise and the crowds there.

Okay, so I upped my Effexor XR to 150 mg this morning...first day on the increase and hoping all goes well with no noticiable side effects! Hopefully just smooth sailing with the increase!

Well, I only took it about an hour ago, so we shall see!!! I am hoping that I don't feel any side effects, but if I do, I know they will only last a few days...my husband and kids are getting ready to leave to go to the amusement park for the day, so I will be here by myself with some quiet time.

If my anxiety wasn't at the level it is right now, I wouldn't even think twice about how I would feel increasing, I would just do it and that would be that, but since I am building back up to hopefully feel like I did, the anticipatory anxiety is there, just like it is for you! Argh! LOL

How are you feeling today? You said your anxiety was up a bit last night at work, I am hoping that you are feeling better?

Quiet time is always good! Sounds like you're on your way. I'm ok just woke up not too long ago, took day 3's dose. I'm really hoping that this works!!!!! How long do I have to wait? I should probably goto the gym for a little bit and get back into my normal routine! I know medication can't solve everything!! =(

While everyone is different, you should start to notice the changes in about a week or two but it can take up to four weeks to feel the full effect.

Quiet time is always good...I don't have to do anything today around the house if I don't want to!! LOL

Going to gym sounds like a good idea for you too, if it helps to take your mind off of things!

I am not driving at the moment, and with the family gone all day, I am stuck at home anyway!!

I haven't napped in I don't know how long because of my anxiety, but I just might try and take a nap this afternoon...who knows!!!

I am glad you are on day 3 and doing well...we will hang in there together, deal?

I am saying a prayer for you to feel better soon. Remember to do deep breathing exercises to help calm yourself down. Find your safe place deep inside yourself, it is a little like mediation. My safe place is in my stomach, deep down. I find it, deep breath and say positive affirmations.

Thank you so much for your reply! I appreciate your prayers for me, I never turn down prayer!!! I do practice my deep breathing and am taking it 1 day at a time!!

Good Morning Everyone,

It generally takes 6-8 weeks for the full effects of anti-depressants to kick in, but it all depends on your body chemistry.  Try not to get caught in waiting around for the medication to start working.

Try noting in a journal how you feel at the end of the day - good, better, no problems.

FYI trivia: "Cold turkey" is a slang expression describing the actions of a person who gives up a habit or addiction all at once. The origin of “cold turkey” is not entirely certain, but the phrase seems to have evolved from the older (19th century) classic American idiom “to talk turkey,” meaning “to speak directly and frankly, without beating around the bush.”
