Recommendations on the Linden Method or Bassett's Program?

Check it out i have had general anciety for a few years i also hace panic
attacks but not very often has anyone tryed the linden method i dont want
he paid telling me about his program and or has anyone tried lucinda basset
Cure for anciety and is it eoth the money i have tryed ssri and refuse to put
that poison in my body ever again they may work for some people but they make
me worse way worse like had no desire to wake up in the morning worse anyway
reading this forum helps to know i aint the only one out here feeling weird all the time
Anyway any suggestions or reviews would be apprieciated

Hi and welcome!

Many members here can reocmmend either of these programs to you...you can even do a search on the subject here in the forums to read more about it!

I hope that you will feel welcome and use all of the wonderful features here at HW.:) We have an Anxiety/Panic Resource Guide (main page 2nd post) with some great self-help links, including breathing/relaxation exercises and on-line therapy.:)

So did your anxiety completly go away with the therapy at this point i am willing to try anything and am pleased to tell yall i am to the point of it ehere i can deal with it like i just say i dont care how i feel today im still gunna work i have no other choice and i try to not let it get in the way although i dont do walmart or grociery stores anymore i just havent completly overcome this yet but i am determaned i am a people person and havent been latley but im gunna do this life is deff worth living

Anxiety is a chronic condition, so I never say that I was cured by therapy...or that it has completely gone away.

Everyone afterall has to experience anxiety now and again, but therapy has made a HUGE difference! I now have the tools to use when I face a challenging time. I no longer have the daily panic attacks that I used to, and can manage my general anxiety really well.:)

It is great that you are pushing forward and doing as much as you can in spite of your anxiety. I am sure that whatever method of treatment you decide on, you will do well, and successfully learn managment of your issues.

Thanks for your replys it has helped alot just wish i could find out before i spend the money if the panic away or linden method works but i am getting to where i can deal with anxiety i just want to be able to make it stoo i cant stand it and sometimes it gets overwhelming but i just keep on keepin on i know that in the end i will be in a better place anyway God bless you and thank u much

Hi there hawkeye :-)

I have never used the Linden Method, but I have read and re read "From Panic to Power" by Lucinda Bassett and it was a wonderful wonderful book!! It actually helped me to manage my anxiety for years and then it unfortunately came back full throttle.

I'm currently in a CBT program, but have only had one session with my therapist. It took me a long time to find someone who really did true CBT therapy. So far she's having me journal every single thought I have in regard to my anxiety and what situation/sensation/etc triggered my anxiety. She also told me to read chapter 6 in the "Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" which is also an amazing book of you haven't read it before. I would strongly recommend picking up a copy if you don't already have one!! I've read it before, but combined with the proper training and therapy I'm hoping to really maximize its effectiveness.

Anyway, back to the Lucinda Bassett program...I've never done the whole thing, just read the book, but if the program is anything like the book then I can bet it would be quite worthwhile for some people. I need a more hands on approach a lot of the time so that's why I didn't ever invest in it personally.

Hello and welcome.  Many members have talk of both of these programs over the years that I have been here.  The people that have brought it up had great success with one or the other.  However, many members have excellent results with therapy especially the CBT therapy.  There is a link to a free online CBT program in our resources thread.

In my opinion I believe that how well any program helps you will depend on how devoted you are to the program as well as being willing to change your own feelings about anxiety.

Just ignore the SPAMMERS Larry...no need to respond...they usually don't ever check back on posts anyway.

The ONLY reason that I reached out to this 'member' with a warning...giving him/her the benefit of the doubt...is because they started out posting as a supportive member.

Sneaky! However, it is is Admin's hands now...and we shouldn't bother with it anymore.

You can always alert the Admin yourself if you see obvious SPAM by hitting on the yellow exclamation point icon on any suspicious post.

I don't like it, it kinda annoyed me seeing this spam every where. The only book I've read controlling anxiety for idiots it's a great read and I really liked it. in the book it reads that Abraham Lincoln had anxiety, is this true?

Hello Hawkeye,

I did the complete Lucinda Bassett program years ago. It was very helpful. I found for me that it takes a long time to change thoughts and behaviors. I mean I would really work at it.....now 16 years later, I manage my anxiety very well, but it took years of taking baby steps for me to get where I am at.

Bottom line is nowadays.....anxiety comes and goes and it usually comes with symptoms.....I just roll with how I feel...I don't fight it or get mad at it...I usaully keep going about my business and pay it as little attention as possible and I find that it typically eases up and goes away within about 15 to 25 minutes...and when It goes away, I don't dwell on it.
