Just a poll to see how many people have had their med poop out after many successful years, and which one brought you back again?? Mainly for anxiety with mild depression.

celexa 20 mg, after 8 beautiful years. Had a panic attack July 1st, been struggling ever since. Dr is weaning me to zoloft but I'm scared it won't work like the celexa did!!

Zoloft after 10 years - it was a wonderful drug but just quit working. I am on my 5th week of Effexor - no signs of improvement yet.

My husband's 20 mg Celexa pooped out after over 5 years. Increased to 40 mg and after a couple rough weeks, right back on track.

BeRock, did your husband take it for anxiety and panic attacks? What was he feeling when he knew he had to up it?? I gave the meds 2 weeks at 30 and because I didn't see a difference, and I was a crying mess at the doc's office, he told me, no point in increasing, just switch!! Maybe I should have stayed the course??

Sorry for a bit off topic, but I was scared to open this and read it at 1st, LOL! I had a different mental picture going on.

For some reason Cymbalta stopped working for me after 3 years, but Effexor is working great. I saw my PM doctor at the VA and she said they are very similar meds. Seems strange effexor works so well for me now going on 2 years.

I'm hoping my increase in effexor to 150 works good. Today is a week since I increased. I was on 75 mg up until March. All for anxiety and panic. Fingers crossed

he was taking it for anxiety and panic attacks, along with buspar. He was feeling depressed and much more anxious than usual when he knew he needed to increase it. however, if the increase made you a crying mess, I agree it's time to switch.

I'm about to switch off of Celexa, as soon as my PCP can get me in to see a psychiatrist because of "dark" side effects from the Celexa, but she's uncomfortable taking me off of it - so she added klonopin and sleeping meds. lol

I think your dr prolly knows what's best. The transition may be a little rough, but it'll be worth it when you get it figured out. Sometimes it takes a few tries, try to resist feeling hopeless. There's a correct combination out there for you!
