Hi lobstahguy (my husband is from ME...love your screename!)
Welcome to the A/P...although I am sorry to hear of your medical complications and the resulting globus/anxiety.
We have many archive threads on this issue that you may want to do a search on (input key words, lump in the throat, trouble swallowing, globus hystericus, ect) This is a fairly common issue with anxiety, so I am sure that you will find some interesting information in those posts.
However, it sounds like you may have the double burden of both a physical issue as well as anxiety adding to this symptom.
I do not have personal experience to share regarding your Rx prescription...but from reading on it, it sounds like it could be a good choice for dealing with your issues.
Remeron, a somewhat newer anti depression med (NaSSA) is used primarily for depression, but has benefit in treating GAD, and appetite issues, like you mentioned...as well as other uses such as a sleep aid, ect.
It's performance has been reviewed well against other A/D meds such as SSRI's, and has a faster theraputic effect, and less of a build up time for efficacy.
However, everyone is going to react to any given medication in their own way...so whatever you read, you will need to just give this Rx a try for yourself and see how you do.
If you are interested in checking out some good self-help ideas for anxiety, we have a great Resource Guide on our main page. You may want to give the breathing and progressive muscle relaxation exercises a try to bring down your overall levels of anxiety and symptom(s).
I wish you the best, and invite you to post with us anytime. I hope that the medication works out very well for you. Let us know.;)
