Is Zoloft causing me to suffer from anxiety?

Hello all..I have multiple sclerosis and I am on Zoloft. I have been suffering from major anxiety..to the point where sometimes I don't leave my house for a couple of days..I HATE THIS!!!!!!!

Hi!! How long have you been on this?

I'm just going to be honest with you about my experience with Zoloft. I started it on Saturday and Sunday I woke up and felt so bad. Upset stomach diarrhea and cried all day. I could not eat anything. I had no appetite all day. As soon as food hit my mouth i was gagging. Took it Sunday night and woke up Monday morning even worse. I felt like I had been hit by a truck. My anxiety was through the roof and I couldn't stop crying. I felt like I was totally breaking. I made the decision not to take it last night and I woke up so much better this morning. I still felt sick and emotional but nothing like Sunday and Monday. As the day has gone on I have started feeling even better. Sometimes medicine doesn't work for you and the dr has to try you on several different ones until you find that perfect one.

Hope I didn't aggravate your anxiety worse, I just wanted to share my experience with Zoloft with you.

Hi and welcome.

Yes, how long have you been on your Rx? Can you also tell us why it was prescribed? Was is for already existing anxiety, or for depression...or something related to the MS?

Often SSRI's have the ironic side effect of causing more anxiety or depression initially upon start up. This can take up to several weeks to abate, as the medication builds, levels off and your body adjusts.

Most likely, this is temporary...give us a little more info, and we may be able to advise you further.
