Xx,
I am really sorry to hear about your attack. It is awful when they come out of the blue, and I experienced them this way more often than not when I was suffering them.
There is some good news to be gained here however. One is, like you mentioned, you now have a crystal clear diagnoses that you are indeed dealing with anxiety and nothing else, and getting the medication that you need. It is very unlikely that you will become dependent on it if you use it only for acute anxiety episodes, like during an attack...or an extrememly stressfull period of time.
The other bright side of this, is that you are now stonger than you have ever been! You got through a really tough attack, and have made it through...now you have gained strength and wisdom with how to deal with any future ones. (though let's hope that was the last.)
When anxiety seems to come out of nowhere, it is a good indication that we need to be practicing our coping skills every single day...no skipping when you feel fine! Those of us with anxiety are very skilled at pushing the stress of life aside and not paying attention to it or feeling it until it is too late...and we have an attack.
Doing breathing, PMR (progressive muscle relaxation) meditation, journaling, physical exercise ect... will help us to decompress, body and soul. ;)
Remember our Resources here are fulll of effective self-help ideas!
I hope that today you can take it easy, recover and get back on track to feeling better and managing the anxiety. Keep posting with us, it really helps.:)
Talk to you soon,
S.C.
