Does that make sense? Why is it that I am always having mini panic attacks when I'm not thinking about anything negative? Or, for instance...I'll be doing dishes and all of the sudden my panic comes back? Is it because our brains still worry even when we don't think about stuff? I don't get it. My mom thinks that day that I was around that chemical that made everyone sick, My brain released a lot of adrenaline or something like that. I dont know what to think. And now I might have a chemical inbalance? Does that make sense? could it be possible? I know that day frightened me. I thought I was deathly ill. Everyone else was acting that way. So I freaked out and since I haven't been able to stop with the panic attacks. I mean, they went away for a month or so... But now it's constant again? *cry* Also...another question i have is... If you get medicine to make your brain go back to normal or whatever (lol).... Do you have to take that medicine for the rest of your life? How do you know if you still need it? Do you start having anxiety after coming off medicine? I'm hoping this is just a phase....

I don't know about the medicine thing but I once wondered if my body was not getting addicted to
adrenalin, I seemed to have constant anxiety and panic, that's why I started to take xanax now I haven't
had one in two years, will it last, I don't know but so far so good, Peace.

Mommie at first I took it 3-4 times a day and like you I was pretty much zonked out, when at work I tried to
tough the day out and hold off until about bed time it seemed to really help more the later I took it.

Larry, Did you ever take xanax during the day as well? It says "every 8 hours as needed" and sometimes I feel like I actually need it. But I dont want to run out of it and depend on it as well. I also know it makes me extremely drowsy so I don't want to take it during the day. I had like 45 in my bottle and theres about 30 in there still. Since almost 3 months ago.

As far as the medication question?  Some people can take meds for a time, and later go off of them.  This can be due to situational things in their lives changing...or because they have learned coping skills to take the place of their Rx.

However, some people will certainly benefit from using their medication as an ongoing treatement due to the severity of their anxiety, or because of chemical imbalances...so it is a completely individual thing.

You will ultimately have to find out what the future holds for you in terms of treatment by having good communication with your doctor, and trying different things until you have your, personal plan that works for you.;)

I had that issue for quite a few years after I had gotten over my original anxiety trigger (heart attack). I still have issues with it from time to time but I largely deal with it by telling myself, "I'm going to die someday so I may as well make something of my life so others will remember me." That and not focusing on the anxiety itself have largely helped me get over my anxiety issues. But, we're all different so you'll just have to find what works for you.

By the way, I was only given medication after I got over my anxiety. I dealt with it for 7 years first and got over it without medication.
