Workers comp doesn't pay for psychiatric issues

Don't know if people out there know this, but workers comp (at least in WV) don't pay for psychiatric issues ...... such as anxiety.  about a month ago I ended up in a psychiatric hospital for anxiety after an elevator at work fell with me in it (I was stuck in there over 2 1/2 hours).  Sense then I've been having terrible anxiety.  I do think I might be getting better over the last few days sense they changed me from Ativan to Xanax. 

With all the medical professionals emphasizing the mind body connection ...... I can't believe workers comp gets away with this.

I am sorry that yours does not.:( Your situation would certainly would warrant it!

I am glad that you are starting to feel better...it takes time. Have you been able to seek therapy, or look into self-help methods for your recovery?

Keep up the process of healing...if you would like any specifics on good book/self-help recommendations, let us know.

Stacey, not too many years ago my company's insurance did not cover any psychiatric needs with the rate
in the shrinks office at 100.00 per hour it didn't take me long to go bankrupt. Unfortunately the only people
insurance is designed to help are the owners, Peace.

My Son in law is a lawyer, if I ever need one I will offer them half after they win! Luck Stacey.

I am still in counseling 3 days a week. 

I threw up in the MRI machine last week, so you know I'm definitely not over it.

I hate having to pay for this.  I may look for a lawyer to file a product liability claim.  I have a 7 year old that WILL go to collage one day.

Definitely do all that you can, and explore all of your options! If you do end up seeking legal counsel, try to find someone who will not collect his part until you have received your claim. This way you don't end up shelling more out of pocket.

My psychiatrist decided I no longer need 3 day a week therapy mad sad .  I don't know how he decided that.  I guess I'll just do as instructed and hope for best.

I am sorry to hear this...as you don't feel so confident is this decision?

I too was suprised when my therapist told me that I had gone as far as I needed to in my treatment.

However, with my continuation with the self-help skills (such as the ones found in our Resources) that I practiced daily...and coming here for support...he was right.:)

You may be suprised at how ready you really are to decrease your treatment.

Stick with us...we will be here with support anytime you need it.

I only had 8 days in group.  I really don't think it's enough, but we will see.  I will continue the work.  I just wish he would have talked to me and explained the rational.  I worry because he works for the hospital that I got hurt at (elevator fell with me) that started all this anxiety problems.
