i started taking zoloft yesterday at 5pm (50mg) i quit my lexapro 20 mg cold turkey the day before. I took about .125 of xanax this morning also, Today im very very anxious and my legs and feet feel hot and heavy. i feel shaky internally but im not actually shaking. My mom said this could happen for the first few weeks is this true? does it get better? any ideas?

I also feel very out of it, confused and blurred vision!

The side effects may be harsh but  more likely will ease up the longer you stay on Zoloft and eventually disappear.

Lexapro and Zoloft are both SSRIs and have the same side effect profiles, though any individual might have some side effects to one that they didn't have to the other. Most discomfort people experience in switching from one SSRI to another is due to discontinuation from the first med, if the second one isn't at a sufficient level to avoid those discontinuation effects. Give it 3-4 weeks.

If you find the side effect intolerable do contact your Dr.

my doctor said i didnt have to wean myself off of lexapro but i was taking it for about 6 years at 10mg and one month at 20mg but the 20 was too much. i felt i needed something new. so i stopped lexapro for 36hours and started zoloft

For me Zoloft has been a miracle but unfortunately is does come with some side effects. What you are experiencing is "normal" as I had the same issue the second time I started taking it. Ironically, early on it can actually exacerbate your anxiety. Just what we need right? :)

Hang in there.....in a few weeks you will notice a difference.

I recently made the same switch as you. After years on Lexapro my doctor switched me to Zoloft. I went straight from 20 mg of Lexapro to 100 mg of Zoloft.
I want to first stress that EVERYONE reacts differently, what works great for one may not work for another. My switch began December 12th and as of 12 days ago I am back on my lexapro. Zoloft was a nightmare for me. The first week and a half I was tired and nauseous all the time. After that my anxiety was through the roof 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I was having major depressive episodes. I felt like I was going crazy and losing my mind. Lost 16 lbs due to no appetite. As soon as things started turning bad I contacted my doctor and was told to give it another week. That week past and things got worse was told to give it another week. Finally after 5 weeks enough was enough I started seeing a psychologist who demanded I get off Zoloft ASAP. I only tell you my story because if you feel in your gut it's not the medicine for you speak up for yourself because there are so many options out there!
Zoloft maybe your answer and I hope and pray for you that it is. Give it a fair chance, but if things get worse don't hesitate.
