new chest pain!! :-(

Woke up wit a pain in my chest dat I've neva felt before. Its rite in da center of my chest between my breast. Its dull and it comes and goes every hour or so. I'm scared. No it doesn't hurt when I breathe nor am I feelin any other symptoms.. I took a motrin 800 abt two hrs ago but it hasn't completely stopped da pain. I do not wanna go to da doctor becuz I'm sick of e.r and u.c. jst hopin da pain subsides soon. Pray for me. Any idea wat dis mite b related to. I'm hopin dat mayb I strained sumthin becuz I've been sick and coughin a lot so mayb I strained a muscle for coughin so much? But idk. I had my heart checked out a couple months ago every test came back normal. Had a xray of my lungs everything was good..also had a ct scan of my brain everything was normal. Wat should I do?

Can you call your doctor to ask for advice? Chest pain can be from a variety of things, you seem to sense that.

I'm unable to reach my doc at da moment. ..so I'm jst hangin in there until I feel I may need to go to e.r. but so far so good..still experiencin pain but like I said it comes and goes..no other symptoms so far tho. Jst prayin dat everything is fine. I've also noticed dat da pain comes if I burp? Wat could dat b?

Hi Ray,

If it's the same pain, that means it's almost assuredly not your heart. Good thing. Sounds like your esophagus, the tube to your stomach. Sometimes if we have heartburn (acidy stomach), we can get GERD, that's where the stomach acid temporarily injures the esophagus.

My wife said if you've been coughing a lot, it may be a bruised rib or something bruised in your throat going to your lungs.

Not a doctor but could be URI nothing harmful but where are you? Has there been a major weather change where you are,and you said you are sick coughing to much and to hard can call a strain on your chest area. Could need something stronger then motrin,to me your signs say infection&thats just cold like qhat happens with weather change. How ever I get URI with weather change&thyroid disorder,cause me to have unwanted infection I hope you feel,better&get answers soon.

Wats uri? And yea I'm not sure wats goin on..I took pepto for possible heartburn..but no change..idk wat to do...I'm jst hopin I'm not abt to have a heart attack... but as soon as I feel any other symptom I will b goin to a hospital. .and I live in California so yes da weather is always changin dats how I became sick.

Good night Ray, we in the east don't have much time between now and when I get up at 4:00, I have to get a little reading in on the Kindle and get to sleep. That's one thing we've tried to do, more sleep, more reading, and less TV.

I hope that tomorrow finds you well.

Hey Ray, I have made my chest hurt like that from propping myself up on my elbow reading or watching

I'm doin better...went to er lass nite..couldn't sleep cuz of fear..but da doc did a chest xray and ekg and all was fine...said it was costchondritis..da pain has left since...said I should b all well in a week!! :-) thnx for da concern..really appreciate it!! :-)

Great news! (Well, that it's not your heart). I think you did the right thing going to the ER, now you can relax, and they did tests to make sure everything is OK.

Yes I couldn't resist da e.r @jung..I'm jst hopin dat dis isn't da start of a whole lot of visits to da e.r dis yr. I visited e.r quite a bit since lass june and I'm really sicc of it. But thnks for all ur support. Really do appreciate it.
